Oh yeah I did another little doodle. Some dwarves using a goblin for target practice from behind the ramparts. A fairly common format for combat.
Wow your crossbows looks like pump action shotguns!love it!

I think it's just a contoured foregrip.

Maybe the foregrip is a pumping ratchet to draw the bowstring back?

It is actually a contoured foregrip. But, you could install a pumping ratchet. In fact you can see that they have little handles to turn on the top, and one of them is cranking it. There are a bewildering array of mechanisms for constructing a functional crossbow though. I'd build one with a spring instead of a bow, for instance.

You could use the X-Com logic and make the crossbow ( / scatter laser) pump-action just because it looks slightly more badass.

Sometimes I feel that the stories of Dwarf Fortress is what you'd get if Lovecraft and Tolkien wrote songs for Dio.

maybe they do write songs for Dio in the afterlife!!!!
and Dwarf Fortress is actually a tool used for communicating with them.

I've hurt my hand...somehow, so I'm just posting some stuff I'm not sure if I've posted before.
Might as well, hehe.

Terrific, as usual, Tofu.

The top one looks like my current fort. Actually, suspiciously like a lot of my forts.

The first one is very Mordorish.

The second mush more Moria !

It's a very good work, indeed.

Grayscale...black and white...

How. O_o

That is amazing. Doesn't even look like it was painted.

I'm not the most skilled at drawing.  But I've been trying to draw "screenshots."  Scenes exactly as they appear in the game.  These are all on index cards.

A baby yak enjoying the cave moss in a sculpture garden.  My dwarves prefer to eat wild horse.

My metalcrafter studs a bronze breastplate with billon.  Aside from perspective issues, I made one big mistake.

Almost as majestic as the real thing.

I absolutely approve of this, Hamsmagoo. There's nothing I like more than to see depictions of actual stuff going on in game.
