Hey guys. Thank you for the compliments, I really enjoy knowing that you like my work, even if I'm not happy with it myself.
So, I got around to making another little thing Dwarf Fortress related. I hope you like it, and sort of get what's going on,
because I seriously messed up the composition on this one, hahaha.
I really like this Tofu, but if you are seeing it the same way I am then I think I might know what's bugging you about it.
Three things mainly. And I only mention these things because you yourself seem to be unsatisfied with it. It's far better than anything I might even think about creating. If you find my criticism to be silly, then I trust your judgement FAR more than I do mine on matters of art!
1) The dwarves are central, but they are much less detailed than the goblins at the edges, and muted by shadow. My eyes are drawn to the bright center top and the detailed lower left almost as much as they are drawn to the center dwarves.
2) The Symmetry of the two trees closest to the road on either side. Not necessarily a bad thing, but when I see symmetry like that in a nature landscape I try to see if there is a reason for it based on the content of the rest of the landscape. Maybe have one of the trees be lightning struck, half-fallen or otherwise damaged? Keep the content but reduce the symmetry?
3) The far left bottom corner goblin looks to me like as if it should be in full view of the dwarves, and it's not clear that the dwarves have or have not seen it. I can't tell if this goblin is trying to be "bait" for the ambush, or if it's just stupid, or if the dwarves are drunk or simply not paying attention.
