Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I drew a troll maiden. She's wearing a troll fur cap, troll fur dress, troll fur hood, troll fur cloak, troll fur trousers, troll fur socks (not visible), troll fur low boots, and troll fur mittens.

Like all trolls I've ever looked at in the game, she is incredibly obese, and as per the description is unshorn and has long white hair all over her body and horns and tusks. Her skin is black. Her eyes are black.

I'm finally convinced I've pinned down what DF trolls are meant to look like in game (when they show up in goblin invasions). I'm not sure if cave trolls wear clothes.

Looks pretty good :)

I had Toady draw me up a picture of a goblin shearing a troll.  I noticed it looked a lot like Ludo:

Just think - some day Trolls might get spells too, and all those loose rocks lying about might attack your dwarves during seiges.

How did I miss the existence of this thread?
(Don't attempt to answer that.  Down that path lies ... well I was going to say madness but you all run towards madness as if it was made from chocolate and puppies.  Just forget I said anything.)

Spoiler: my masterpiece. (click to show/hide)
It represents a goblin snatcher, at night, approximately two seconds before realizing it's caught in a cage trap.

Very allegorical. I especially like how the pitch black night helps to set the mood with the moonlight shimmering off the goblin's face. Compositionally, the vast dark space that is above and in front of the goblin helps to illustrate the uncertainties and possibilities of life and universe. Will the goblin succeed in rescuing the dwarven children from their atrocious 'childcare' (which includes dodging rabid dogs until the age of 12 as we all know) or will his heroic attempt be in vain?

Of course! I did the image in the GIMP 2 program, and it has a "burn" tool that I used for the shading.
And always do the borders of the shade according to the texture of what you are shading.

I use Gimp myself, takes a while but it gives better results than paint  :P
although i do wish i could afford adobe suite, tired of using scattered 3rd part softwares for animations, coding and drawing. (notepad++ is superior due to having access to almost all coding languages though.)

Here you go:

You can also colour dodge/burn with other tools by changing the "Mode" dropdown.

Just to chime in for all those willing to play with dodge/burn- it's generally considered the most bland way of shading. If you take a look at rhesusmacabre's beautiful av, you'll see that the shading changes all three elements of a colour- hue, saturation, value. Dodge/burn doesn't do that.

So my advice- stay away from it unless you've really mastered shading with just the paintbrush.

Am I the only one thinking of David Bowie when I see that goblin? I love it!

Sorry, no contributions of my own. Hopefully, I'll have gotten used enough to my tablet soon to make a stick figure eventually.

Ah, so that is the dodge/burn tool.
Heh, my GIMp is in a different language, so I just thought it was the "Shadow/lighting" tool.
Though that is what I tend to use.
