About that cheese: Dwarves just engrave the rock so it only reflects certain wavelengths. Thus, the colored engraving.

Out of curiosity, what would it look like if you hadn't colored it?

Good stuff!
I think it'd be cool if someone drew Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, in Dwarf Fortress situations.  Like being ambushed by goblins, slaughtering puppies, or murdering elves.
