It's a kobold. Not exactly a DF kobold, more based on the ones from my webcomic, but it's still DF-related by extension...

as for the beard, it's supposed to resemble a billy-goat's chin-hair rather than a proper dwarven beard.

if you stretch that extension you could include the majority of typical fantasy story/game/things.

I mean, orcs are basically canon in DF, even though they are not vanilla creatures.
