Hey, corpses go greyscale now. Like in DF.
They were kind of distracting before.

I still want to do something with my smearing algorithm.
Right now, smearing just produces more red, smearable pixels.
Leave a guy in a square with a little blood, and eventually it'll be completely covered.

If I can't fix it tomorrow, I'll give you guys a version with the crazy smearing.
But hopefully I'll be able to work all the kinks out before I hand it over.

Acanthus/Karnewarrior: Your eagerness is well-merited. I will never play boring chess again. ^^

What i'd do is give each smearable pixel a % chance to become 'unsmearable' when smeared.

I suggest that you use different shades of red for the pixels so we dont end up with a "tile" which is in a monochrome red. Also you could make the tile slippery which is bloodied.

I already use different shades of red, yeah.

And as for the percentage thing, I've kinda been trying to avoid storing blood as objects of any kind.
Right now they're just drawn straight onto the background as red pixels. That might be my only option though...

Anyway, I'll look at it again tomorrow. G'night, Bay 12.

Oh, man, here's a thought.

I could use a very specific Green-Blue value to designate an unsmearable tile.
Something small enough (say 1) that you wouldn't actually notice a difference.

But tiles with color (200, 0, 0) would be smearable and those with (200, 1, 1) would not.

Huh. That's actually pretty smooth, if it works. I think I'll give it a shot.
Thanks, Neruz.

Tomorrow, though.

Goodnight for real, Bay 12.

I don't suppose you could use alpha transparency and a second background layer to put smears in?

Or something like that.  I'm not entirely sure how that thingy of yours works.

Deons' double-breasted* desert-dwelling woman.

*The second pair are water sacks.
Actually both pairs are water sacks. They don't have a "milk", they feed their children (and random thirsty strangers) with water.

Also it's said that RPG where they are is no longer being developed.

And I wanter to cloth her, I just was carried away by my StarCraft total conversion for Civilization 4. I am ripped apart by various ideas I want to participate in :).

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

This is based on one of the player characters from my RPG, Raith Darkwaters the Goblin Warrior.
I wanted to draw him because of his character's ridiculous inventory and fashion choices (boar tusks implanted in mouth, greaser hair and trenchcoat on a goblin..)

his character also has zero charisma due to disfigurement caused by an Orc punching him in the face.

That is hardcore. I like this.

I don't know if 'badass' is the word I would use to describe him.

More 'unstable'. Or perhaps 'deranged'. and he's holding an axe.

Whatever he is, he looks dangerous.

Whatever he is, he looks dangerous.

Dangerous is indead the perfect word to describe him. Dangerous to himself, others and the environment.
