Oh yes. There will be blood.

I'm going to use DF combat mechanics. Dwarves losing limbs and flying across the chessboard.
Splatters of blood covering the tiles and the walls and stuff. Also messages. It should be pretty fun.

For now it's just going to be a virtual chessboard, though. No online, no AI.
I might go into that as a follow-up project later.

Well I might as well.

This is the only DF-related sketch I have on my computer. I drew it in a few minutes just to tinker with it.
I wanted to see how it'd turn out as old parchment. It's a marksdwarf with standard equipment (crossbow, leather, dogs)

If I fixed the edges and put some burns here and there, smudged the lines and stuff it could turn out okay.

They look kinda small, even compared to a dwarf.
Never thought about it but aren't the bigger dogs actually in the size of a single dwarf?

I checked just now. Dogs are size 5. Dwarves size 6.

I suppose Urist McMarksdwarf has bred war puppies.

Are sizes a consistent measure (like feet) or a relative one (like levels in an RPG)

That is, it could be like

"Everything that is pretty small is size one. This is like, roaches and bugs and stuff. Then the really big roaches are size two...

Then anything about the size of a large dog is the fifth size, and then after dogs are small people, that's the sixth size"

So the only thing seperating any two sizes is how many benchmarks toado felt was appropriate.

Probably a king given the cross on his head.

Someone doesn't play chess very often, bishops have pointy hats :D

Thanks.

Anyway, the pieces won't actually look like that.
I'm going to use tiles. Mostly, they're Sphr's dwarves.

One thing puzzles me about Deon's drawing. If camel-lady was never meant to go around naked, why does she even have "naughty bits" that need to be covered?

Wouldn't it have been easier to draw her sans naughty bits and give her the old "barbie genitalia"?

Or am I puzzling this too hard and the obvious answer is obviously the right one...

He never intended to clothe her. That was a bluff.
