I remember my parents had the watership down cartoon in their VCR cupboard when I was a kid...

It was a strange experience. I was not allowed to watch it cause they told me that it was very scary. I could not imagine how a cartoon about rabbits could be scary.

to this day I have not watched it...

It. Is. Scary.

Very scary, for anybody under 12.

Scary for anyone under 16.

Disturbing for anyone over.

So this thread inspired me to do some fan art of my own. I'm not comfortable with drawing on the PC, but I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out.

I titled it: The Second Worst Job in the Fortress

Was drawn in GIMP 2.0.

oh yeah I remember the rabbit with the weird eye, I think I saw like one minute of the film actually..

NOTE: I said I COULD not imagine how that could be scary. PAST TENSE.

Now it's THE FUTURE, and I'm very capable of comprehending a scary rabbit cartoon, so I didn't need to see that...

almost unrelated, but it's sort of df inspired.  it's supposed to be a sinister forest, like the ones in Threetoe's stories.

More like a Siberian (or Northern Canadian, or Alaskan) forest deep in the winter.

It doesn't strike me as even slightly evil. Add a few ghostly wolves and that should work.

Regardless of wether it looks sinister or not, it's still pretty good.

It reminded very much of the forest from the Brothers Grimm movie, except with magic not so heavily bound. I'm not sure if the "invisible person" outline is intended or not. What I noticed most was the strange fog; looks partially solid around one tree's base.

Imagine a cool peice of sky-blue and milk-white marble about 3cm by 2cm and by 0.5cm, containing a tiny 2mm malacolite crystal. Now imagine the miles of metamorphic rock it's embedded in that no pick or chisel will ever touch. Then, imagine that those miles will melt back into their mantle long before any telescope even refracts an image of their planet. The watchers will be so excited to have that image too.

wait, there's an outline of an invisible person?  that's news to me.

I guess it really is a haunted forest.

You mean just to the left of the centermost pinetree? Yea it looks vaguely humanoid, but shadows can play tricks on your eyes like that.
