I don't know why I didn't post this here before, but if we're doing MSPaint, then I'm on board.

Remember that "trainwreck fugly" dwarf from the devlog, with the alignment error that made one half of his face lower than the other, with giant teeth and no beard?  Here's my impression:

That's how i visualise my dwarves. ALL my dwarves, even the females. It's pretty game-accurate clothing wise too.

Now to all you wusses who want your female dwarves to NOT have beards, ponder this: HALF of your dwarves in fortress mode are liable to be female. In every job. Do you really want a dwarf fortress where some/most of your biggest badasses don't have beards?

Thanks all, it was indeed intended to be the quintessential dwarf of either gender - bearded of course and hairy, amazingly muscular, wearing a dress, a pair of socks, and a cap made from kitten leather, and spattered with blood and mud and vomit.

Still, there's one detail missing:
