Speaking of DF themed Warhammer, I've had a squad of unpainted dwarves sitting around for ages...  Unfortunately all my miniatures and paints are on the other side of the state.  Ah well.
The squiggly lines are not a style choice.  I have the focus and follow through of your average gerbil, plus I somehow innately fail at drawing a decent line with the tablet.  I'll do the next picture with real pens; they tend to go a bit better.

Second Submission!
code:
Engraved on the wall is an image of dwarves.

Vorpal Avuzmeng was never much of a trend follower. When all the other kids were tying their beards with sunberry seeds, he didn't give a damn. When the other dwarves became merchants, hunters, and axedwarves, he joined the swordsdwarf unit. And when the military sortied to fend of Okabatast and Onoludar, he went to sleep in the barracks.

Commentary: you know all those funny parts on the armour like that what seems to be one half of a giant pincer attached to his right arm? You know how items are always "studded with spikes of Giant Cave Lobster shell"? That's how I always imagined it to be. That dwarves were sticking bits and pieces of animals onto themselves.

Looks very, khm, "nice", umiman. I mean that the dwarf looks in no way "nice", whle the picture of him is, in fact, at least a *picture*.  :) Some evil subrace of dwarves maybe?

And, uh, speaking of a bronze colossus...
Big bronze statue
:p
Now imagine THAT fighting your dwarves...

I've never seen it stated in game, but if female beards are what floats your boat...

Evil subrace of dwarves? Considering the fact that dwarves (and their overseers) commit some of the greatest atrocities (like slaughtering and eating kittens, killing innocents, desecrating entire regions for their own arrogant megamonuments, murdering traders on the slightest whim, blatant outright racist violence, anarchistic society, worshipping a god of blood, etc.) known to all in all the worlds... you'd wonder if there were a benign subrace of dwarves.

Anyway, I wasn't aware that what I drew looked evil, just imposing (which is what I would expect a super-ultra legendary dwarf to look like). I guess if you look at it from a certain way, it looks evil. Perhaps I'm influenced too much by extremist fantasy archetypes like Warhammer.

The skulls, spikes, jagged sword, glowing pupils, and a helm that gives the impression of horns all add to this effect.

I still like it.

I hate to do this, but I haven't really managed to come up with any concrete stuff as far as an engraving piece, but I thought it would be cool to post the sketches I've come up with in the process, and a little tribute to Dwarf Fortress for inspiring me to draw and giving me visions =)

Some Goblins and Crossbows

Some DF inspired sketches

CUTE FORT DWARVES ATTACK

The last is something I plan on pushing and hopefully developing into some Dwarf Fortress flavored comics I can share from time to time.

- Valcon, those dorfs would make an awesome comic style. Go for it!

Here's a few old drawings I did for the DFMA:

  • DF Favourites:

  • DF Security Guard:

  • Silver coin

My drawing skills are sketchy at best ^_^ - but they get the job done.

These I drew back when I was playing WoW, but dwarves as dwarves, Eh?

I like to think my style has improved a bit since then..

Glud - Runescape, not technically a dwarf per say, but only because of the racial restrictions.

Glud(dy) again, - WoW, this was printed on a limited run T-shirt back when I was still attending classes in school. Never saw a dime.

Gluddy + Murigrim + 15 other dwarves of various backgrounds.
Muri being the Guild Leader in a rather great Guild in WoW, gutted by twerps, lies, misinformation and deceit just so they could have a few more gits to run on pointless raids with. I'd tell you more. But I promised I would not let on details that would incriminate several major guilds on Emerald Dream. And possible destabilize the alliance for months. XD

    Murigrim + Scar - 40k setting.
This was sometime after I discovered Dawn of War and subsequently discovered just how viscerally violent the 40k universe truly was. Heart almost sang during the CGI intro.

And that's all the dwarves I could dig out. I am currently working on a few more of them in line with DF, - we'll see what I come up with. [Not very likely now, thanks so bloody much]

I'm curious about things that could destabilize the Alliance, considering my main is a Tauren Druid...  ;)

(on Feathermoon, so I really wouldn't be affected by anything on Emerald Dream; I just wanted to make the joke.)

This is a fox skull helmet. All craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality. It menaces with spikes of fox bone and is encircled with bands of fox leather. This item is haunted by the ghost of Alfador Angrorung the fox.

Welp that sounds fairly silly - here you are requesting dwarf fanart, then complaining when you get it.

I suspect people care less about the actual contest than having fun and gathering art in a single thread...
