Were I a game designer, and my game had monsters like those in it, and people drew that message from them and said it on the game's forum . . . BAN.  But that game's forum would have different guidelines, so I doubt Toady would do the same.  Strictly speaking that's within guidelines.

i would think waves would be the extent of the curliness of elf hair. curls get stuck in branches way to easy.

Plus curly hair is 'cute', so unless you're going for pixie style Elves, it's not really all that appropriate, Elves generally being depicted as cool and beautiful in a superior way, rather than cute.

I was thinking of DF elves as being more feral, so short sticking out in every direction, to long and unkempt with various forest refuse in it (twigs, leaves, pine cones, etc.) and I know having long strait hair that it graps every low hanging branch it can find, and if it wasn't strait, I would probably be bald. dreds would also be a viable option.

Not homeless, that would imply they don't carry it well, more animalistic and wild, like the feeling you get when you are looking at a bear or some other large predator in the wild.
