Ah very cool. I like this representation of a the kobold.

It's a really good representation of characters. Only problem I have is the barrel going mew? Is there cats in the barrel? cos that would possibly only double the hilarity.

The 'mew's are everywhere, in every panel.  That just happens to be where the mews fit in the second panel.

Looks like a dragonish, lizard.... monkeyish... thing. A bit hard to see. It does look neat though.

Is that the Kobolds dagger stabbed into the dwarfs hand?? Its hard to tell whether his hand was stabbed or he is holding it. It might be on the ground though. It's a bit hard to tell perspective there.

Yeah, the dagger's stuck in his hand. Probably parried a thrust bare-handed. A dwarven way to disarm someone, if you ask me.

That is really good, Riess.  One of the better depictions of a kobold I've seen, I think.  Though I'm usually partial to cutebolds.

it really looks like it's engraved in stone... what program did you use to do that?

A simple trick I used in Adobe Photoshop. I made a layer with a stroke effect that matched the background texture, and then gave it a bevel that matched the stroke's size. I set my brush to adjust fill rate to pressure and "chiselled" away at the stone surface with my tablet pen.


Also, I've decided to retroactively make that sconce a bit less of an eyesore, as per the feedback.

I'm afraid I wouldn't know where to look. I just kind of stumbled upon the effect while playing around in photoshop.

It's a common way I do things: I experiment with filters and layers when I am bored, and sometimes I find funny things. Sometimes I get something ugly though...

Also you can google a hell lot of Photoshop tutorials, they are mostly awkward, using cheap techniques and tricks to achieve a specific effect quickly while not teaching you how to do the thing in general, but at least it works.
