Tuck the spell away.

Don't want that getting into the wrong hands, Kal mutters.

Afterwards, follow Rusty.

"Lead the way. I'll cover the rear."

Steven takes a small swig of his flask and lights a cigarette. At some point he dropped the one in his mouth and didn't realize it until he REALLY wanted it about now

Jee wilikers, I think Highmax is near invulnerable, must have been dunked in the river styx like achilles was.

The journey back to the surface is quiet and short. With the specter defeated, the ruins are sad and quiet, no longer as dark or oppressive, though the memories of what they saw and experienced may linger for a long time yet.

Outside, the bright light of the sun stings their eyes, but the greens and browns of the forest surrounding the ruined cabin are a welcome change from below. The group makes their way back to the shore and catch the attention of the fisherman at the dock across the bay. In short order, they are collected and returned to Sandpoint proper, and can make their way to the smithy.

There, Das Korvut is busy at the anvil, the steady ringing of his hammer filling the air as he beats metal into shape. That stops when he sees the group approaching, and the blood drains from his face when he sees the sad bundle that Aloisturm is carrying. The metal is thrust carelessly back into the forge as he hurries towards them.

"Is that..." he says, the grizzled man's voice strained, and he trails off, unable to say more.

The half-construct hands over the bundle of bones and the dog.

((I have to say, you play that charisma penalty well. :P))

Das's face crumples as he takes the bundle and the doll, and he begins to silently weep as he cradles the bones of his son with a care that Etoile, a long-time resident of the town would not have credited the smith capable of.

"I knew... knew that there was no chance my poor boy had survived all these years. Knew he had to be... but I had hoped..." Das breaks off, and after weeping for a minute, manages to get his emotions under control and roughly wipes his eyes, the tears having cut tracks through the soot on his face. He faces the group. "I need to get my lad to the priests, he deserves to be buried properly, next to his mother. You've... you've done a great thing for me, and I... thank you." The words come hard for the proud man, but are heartfelt enough. He swallows and glances down at the bundle, then at the construct. "You did all that I asked. You have free use of my forge, and I'll help make each of you a fine weapon or piece of armor. I'll even throw in the cost of the materials."

With that, he walks out of the forge towards the cathedral, cradling the mortal remains of his child tenderly.

((I assume, especially given class feature bonuses to crafting that Aloisturm would want to craft equipment. He can craft one masterwork item for each member of the party using the 'Making Craft Work' alternative rules at the bottom of this page. Given he's a tireless construct constructing a suit of plate in 4 days, as their example gives, doesn't sound so far fetched. For Steven and the gunslinger initial weapon upgrade, he can work together with Rusty to make the necessary parts for the upgrade.))

Etoile, deeply touched by the reunion between father and son, feels guilty for letting the construct give the explanation so... tactlessly.

"I'll escort him and make sure a proper burial is given."

Etoile runs out after the blacksmith, feeling bad for him.

((I try :V

Also, I'll forgo an item in exchange for a set of masterwork tools. That's what Rusty wanted in the first place, and it'll make the job of crafting everyone else's stuff a bit easier.))

((I guess I could use a new spear?)

Kal looks deeply troubled by the man's sorrow, and hesitates at the forge. Then, mind made up, follows the Smith to the holy site as well.

Pleased - if a bit battered - by the day's efforts, Aloisturm sets about familiarizing itself with the smith's forge. With the soul of the boy put to rest, it would now be reborn into a new body for a new life. Perhaps the forgeborn would meet this soul again someday.

((Can I request a second pistol if I ignore masterwork? With quick draw, it saves me the time of reloading. And, Roleplaying wise, Steven doesn't think it's time yet to repair his current pistol))
