"Never heard the stories told by campfires, have you? Start like this too."

Steven shakes his head and adjusts his hat

"Let's hope we don't end up like those folks the frontiersmen talk about..."

[Hanzoku]

The door swings open on silent hinges, revealing another staircase, this one a tight spiral that quickly turns out of sight.

((Who will take the lead, or do you want to check the other door first?))

"Usually the stories frontiersmen talk about come from survivors..."

"Best ones told are about the ones where no one does." Steven speaks in a sarcastic tone, trying to lighten the mood with a little morbid humor to calm his own nerves as he opens the other door, pistol in opposite hand

[Hanzoku]

The left hand door swings open just as quietly. A short 30 foot long corridor ends in what looks to be a circular room. From the doorway, you can see that that the visible section of the walls is covered with a large number of alcoves, and the edge of a pedestal with a book on top of it can barely be seen.

"We should check this one first before going down. Can never be too through."

Perception check the room before entering. Last thing I need is a swinging axe coming at me

Motes of dust sparkle in their lights, and a thin coating of dust over everything in the room is entirely undisturbed. Steven can be fairly confident that until their arrival, nothing has moved in these rooms for a very long time.

"Not getting much done standing around."

Steven enters first, gun at the ready

The room is empty of threats, but filled with quiet horror. Fully half of the small alcoves that cover every wall of the room are filled with grisly offerings. Eyes and tongues, preserved by some force from desiccating, glisten wetly in almost half of the alcoves. The pedestal does indeed contain a book, written in a shaking hand it is filled with pictures of bird demons and Jervas's shaky, rambling script. From what Etoile has deduced from the statue, it looks to be Jervas's attempts to understand dreams and visions of the vile demon lord. It also confirms that the feeding site at the edge of the island is from the Sandpoint Devil, though Jervas makes no mention to providing any sort of food. Instead, he seemed to engage in a demented sort of bird watching in regards to the regional legend. It makes a habit of consuming its latest kill there each month on the night of the full moon.

"I've seen some things in my life, but never anything like this..."

Steven wafts the smell of death and decay from his face

Check the alcoves to see if any belong to Simon. Also look for the red dog.

The contents of the room certainly disturbed Aloisturm, but shutting out the smell of death and insanity did a good deal to calm the construct's nerves. It knew that the group had to complete the task at hand before any of them broke.

[Hanzoku]

Unconnected from their owners, Aloisturm has no way of telling if any came from a young human male, much less a specific one. There is no sign of the red dog in the room.

While Aloisturm looks, Zeratuu stays close to Etoile, feeling a little green around the scales. The constant sounds of the child in the background, which all the group hears, sometimes on the edge of their hearing, sometimes inaudible is taxing the little creature's nerves.

((Was hoping for labels or something, but I guess that would have been too easy.))

"Nothing here. Let's try the stairs behind the other door."
