((In which case, it's still best I know that's the case so Kal can be properly affronted.))

((one of the servers came over to take orders, who Steven was talking to. I'm thinking that given Steven is now responding, she showed up after Etoile, Kal and Zeratuu sat down, so she's already a bit confused by the meals on the table.))

Aloisturm looked at the kobold's offered plate and wondered whether it should firmly refuse, tactfully explain how it did not require sustenance, or just eat something to be polite.

Deciding that the little scaly thing's ferocity in battle made it worthy of at least a little respect, the construct selected an item at random and placed it in its "mouth": a hatch located roughly where a humanoid mouth would be and serving as the construct's olfactory sensor, allowing it to taste and smell.

The construct places the morsel in its olfactory sensor, the sensors locating within working to process the taste. It identifies the base of the morsel as poultry, flavored with a variety of spices - garlic, green onion, orange, ginger and chilies are the most prominent. Oils secreted as it renders the morsel for analysis points to its method of cooking as frying. Having gleaned what it can from the process, a small hatch opens at the bottom of the sensory chamber, and the morsel disappears into the workings of the construct for processing.

Meanwhile, Zeratuu beams happily as Kal takes a portion from her plate, and answers in Draconic to his thanks.

[Draconic]"Yes, yes, is important that packmates bond. Sharing of food is good method."

The serving woman arrives and takes Steven's order, frowning at the two meals on the table and clucks her tongue as she leaves, muttering that one of the lazy girls must have forgotten to bring enough for everyone. In short order, she returns with a round of mead and plates for everyone, including Aloisturm.

Zeratuu cautiously sniffs her bottle of mead, then takes a sip. Water with fermented grain and honey. Longlegs are odd. Still, the taste wasn't bad, and the little kobold supplements ravaging her meal with drinks from her bottle.

((I'm enjoying Zeratuu because she's such an innocent party to civilization as a whole. That said, she isn't stupid, but someone might have to explain the fine concept of paying for food.))

A curious but not unpleasant mix of flavors. Interesting.

"Query. What is this?" The construct holds up a second piece of the fried meat.

The server beams at his question. "Ah, that's a recipe that Miss Ameiko has introduced here, and is exclusive to the Rusted Dragon. It's called General Tsoo's Chicken, and she says its a traditional recipe from Minkai, far to the east."

At hearing Ameiko's name, Etoile lifts his face from his plate. His curiosity had been set aflame again. After a moment of choosing his words and gathering courage, Etoile manages to spew a few words in rapid succession.

"About Miss Ameiko, is she available? I would like to ask her a few questions regarding this establishment, possibly adding it to a book later on."

The server agrees and bustles off. Ameiko comes over to the table a few minutes later. She's washed up since they last saw her, and the scrapes and cuts are gone. She looks more relaxed, and brings her own bottle of mead and gestures to the empty chair at the table with a smile. "Mind if I sit while we talk? It's been a long day, what with the Festival and the goblins."

The sticks with the fire enchantment on them, the ones you fight with.

((Shouldn't Kal be able to tell that there's no magic on the guns?
Speaking of guns, just how widespread are they? I know Aloisturm wouldn't know anything about them.))

Aloisturm files the chicken's information away for future reference.

((Kal grew up in a backwater. As for telling if there's magic, he could - he doesn't bother to check, though. He naturally assumes anything which spits fire and makes a noise like that to be magical. Even if he could tell straight-off, he'd just think there was some magic on them he'd not known about to shield them from his senses.))

((They're somewhat common in Alkenstar. Anywhere else, they're like an exotic weapon that not many are familiar with))
Steven pulls out his gun and puts it on the table. His demeanour of calmness seems to have made him care less

"This is what you mean. This 'stick' is a pistol; a type of 'gun'. There is no magic here. It uses this to light a special powder that forces this out of here."

Steven points to the barrel and pulls out a shot and rolls it towards the magician and takes a swig straight from the bottle. His speech sounds a little off now.

"They're more commonly found in Alkenstar. It's a shame they don't tell people how to make them.

Could you imagine? An age where the great warriors are not those with the blade or spear but with these guns you can fit right in your coat?

The soldiers would have better ones. Some are as long as the scaly one here. Those ones aren't really my type. And by Irori, do guns hit hard."

He looks to the server, speech slurred.

"How much do I owe you before I drink too much?"

The construct gazes at the "gun" Steven shows off.

"I have never encountered such things. This weapon of yours did not seem to be all that powerful against the Enemy, though the noise it makes is rather impressive for such a small device."
