Bug or feature?

Sometimes historical figure zombies will visit your fortress, but they are usually mundane creatures. A zombie dragon is quite rare. See if you can catch it and drop it on other invaders.

Back in the day, this would have marked the end of the world, but with the zombie nerf it won't be quite so apocalyptic, fortunately for your dwarfs.

Large zombies still are a quite a gigantic issue. Zombies are not damaged through normal means, you need to destroy parts of their body to deanimate them. WIth huge zombies, the chance of you getting anything more than a scratching blow decreases gigantically. I saw a zombie bear tear through swordsman after swordsman in adventure mode. Not even my iron axe could finish it off.

So many choices. Personally, I'd make the entrance of my fort, assuming it's a small hallway, a semi lethal drop, about 4-6 Z Levels down, hidden by drawbridges. I'd chain the zombie beneath and drop invaders in, letting it finish them off.

How'd you capture it, by the way?

The amazing power of hastily constructed cage traps was able to stop the fearsome beast!

I caught it by ordering all my dwarfs underground and letting the zombie dragon chase my livestock on the surface for a bit while i got the cage traps prepared.

Also here's my fortress entrance.

Lucky you i cant even get a regular living dragon, ive tried on 3 different worlds with a couple of forts per world running for 5-10years. Current world has 48! living dragons and all i get is titans and fbs:(.
Btw does your zombie dragon breathe fire? Need to know for science.

Crank up your mega beast numbers during world generation. It's no guarantee but it definitely improves your odds. Keep the numbers of other threats like semi-mega beasts considerably lower.

Fun fact: undead (zombie/skeletal) Megabeasts were a thing back in 40d too, though given their tendency to die during worldgen, people didn't see them very often.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.
