You decide to spend the season researching major magic.

Spring of 342 - Week 1

You've barely even begun when you have a flash of insight: Clouds contain water, and should thus be usable for scrying! This is all theory, at the moment, but it's an exciting idea.

(New research topic unlocked: Cloud Scrying)

Spring of 342 - Week 2

It hasn't been raining very much.

Spring of 342 - Week 3

The local baron arrives at your front door, a large squadron of guards following behind him. He yells something, and the guards bust the door down. This is definitely not a fight you can win, so you go down to meet them.

"Wizard, the weather has been extremely dry of late. Our farms have started to suffer, and discontent is rising." He sneers. "You're to blame, aren't you? Fix this at once, or be hauled off in chains."

Wow—talk about crazy accusations. This guy is a jerk.

A - Acquiesce: Make it rain. The barony is rather large, so this will likely drain most—if not all—of your mana.
B - Argue: Explain that you aren't responsible for the dry spell.
C - Abstain: Refuse to help him, no matter the consequences.
D - Attack: Throw a lightning bolt at him.

((Quick note: Some options will cause an event to drag on for multiple updates. In this case, "Argue" is likely to do that.))

A, be good to flex our magic muscles on something less than world-endingly urgent.  Plus, people will probably like us more.

B

Tell him that we have felt a weather-curse emanating from nearby, and that we are currently working on tracking its origin.

Unless an option specifically mentions otherwise, you can't elaborate on a choice.

(Choices that initiate a conversation will frequently lead to further choices, though, so you have some control over what you say.)

You tell the baron that the poor weather isn't your fault.

He sighs. "Well, you're the only local weather wizard—as far as I know, at least—so I assumed it was you, but... I guess I can't exactly be certain. Explain, please."

A: "It is merely a natural dry spell." (This is the truth, as far as you know.)
B: "Someone has placed a weather-curse upon this land."
C: "I don't know."
D: "The clouds are angry. You must sacrifice something to them!"
E: "j/k lol it was actually me all along"

D.

So we can cast the weather spell after the Baron drops a ton of gold into a volcano. Which we have placed a net within.

FoU has some twisted role ideas. Screw second-guessing this mechanical garbage spaghetti, I'm basing everything on reads and visible daytime behaviour.

Would you like to play a game of Mafia? The subforum is always open to new players.

I'll say A if you give us a +1 to the roll.
 Otherwise, B
