Basic:
Grunt. these are the standard, basic, expendable infantry. The Empire throws these clones at the enemy in vast numbers, spending them as if they were grown in vats. And not hte good vats, either.

infantry:
Soldier. a slightly better version of the Grunt. More professional, better trained. A slightly improved to-hit chance, able ot pick targets. better armor and more precise weapon
Heavy Grunt. Like the soldier, except more brute force, whereas the soldier is more professional. These hit hard in melee and soak up damage. can carry an additional weapon of player choice
Grenadier. A  Grunt with a good throwing arm and enough sense not to pull the pin to pick wax out of his ear. usually.
assault gunner. a soldier that carries a full auto, high energy weapon. good for suppressing fire, chewing through defensive structures, and cutting down trees. Not the most accurate of shots, so try to stay behind these guys.
Shooter. Where the assault gunner shoots lots of bullets toward an area, the shooter is more of a sniper type, taking long shots with careful aim.
point manbonuses to perception and reaction, takes the front in travel and scouting

(esentiially, the soldier is the middlle of this class system, and each of the others improves one type of action at the expense of others: heavy grunt is melee and strength, assault is lots of innaccurate shots, shooter is pre -sniper, grenadier is explosives. Point man is a sort of scout, and pre stealth)

specialists:
demoman. carries the big booms. Blows shit up. usually needs some body guards, due ot being priority targets.

support:
medic. experts in clone organs, limbs, and combat surgery. these guys will stitch you back together on the fly, on the run, or in the hole. Try not to look too closely at the gift organs. These guys are not scrupulous about whee they harvest from.
Chaplain. Space Jesus loves you. These guys, on the other hand, are a few proverbs short of a parable, a few psalms short of a prayer book, a few chapters short of a Testament. But what they lack in sense, or sanity, they make up for in Faith. And badassery (see the prestige class, kung fu zealot)
tunnel rat. get in the hole, root out the hole dwellers. try not to die. but if you do, at least you are already underground. Saves on burials.
communications. Like to talk? Completely useless with a weapon? Able to spell your own designation on the first try, almost every time? Coordinate your fellows, and keep in touch with your commanders. use a radio, headset, telegraph, optic network or subspace relay to give the Empire the strategic advantage of coordination.

not yet implemented: sniper, pilot, heavy weapons, artillary, tank guys, mech commanders, robotech ...

I had Chaplain and Kung Fu Zealot misnamed - they weerewhat I meant by priest and kung fu priest.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I enjoyed the three turns I played. What I liked especially was how the characters could die in no part because of the player. The brick fall was a good thing, IMO.

It's not necessarily over. I need a couple days though.

Go ahead, for those still interested, and post your lists of character points, traits, deaths and kills, as well as unlocked classes and so forth.
basically anything you can remember that was interesting for your character.

What i will probably do for the next round is divide the thread into tw othreads, and run tw omissions- one for the former platoon 4 and 7 (reorganized) and one for platoon six.

so ... don't forget to mention your most recent platoon in your sheet.

that reminds me, I need a slot for platoon in my character sheet. editing.

hhmmm. this has helped me a bit. okay, some notes.

1) I don't know where I was going with the class "first strike." so unlock scout instead, for those of you in platoon six.
2) Sarrak, you have two different sets of unlocks. I'm considering whether to make you select a progenitor for each new character, which will carry the traits of that progenitor but not the other. not sure if that makes sense game wise though. shooter is fine for your class.
3) if you have a character point that was designed to unlock a class, you can drop the point. e.g "bruiser" is a note so I know you are unlocking heavy grunt class. now that youhave that class, that overrides the character point.
4) some character points should be traits or achievements. so far, I know of two achievements: mission complete: Dune, and mission complete: Antibrick takedown.
5) Egan, you did qualify for honor. Who isn't honored by a single manly tear shed in their ... honor?
6) Band of brothers is a unique tag. It is inheritable only if your character dies in defense of the unit, or through certain other services to the team. I'm not really sure what those are, but I'm sure they'll pop up. But! as long as a core group of Brothers exists, they can induct new members, one at a time, after a set number of turns.
7)KH, you've unlocked medic.
8)helmacon. -slap- trident berry is for winners! you get standard gum flavored chewing gob. just like all the other grunts, you 'special snowflake.' Now, everyone point and laugh at special snowflake over here! Next you'll be asking for a name.

9)Oh! Speaking of names: Fish006 earned a name. As did Sarrak, due to surviving twice, especially on that dune. you each may have one syllable. Append your name to the end of your unit designation. Fish also earned rank of corporal.

Did I miss anything?

How is an achievement different from a character point?

By "scout", do you mean pointman? There's no scout class in your list.

Could you just list all the classes unlocked for Platoon 6?

I'm asking of privilege of adding my name before the designation (so that combined, it forms my forum name)!

Edited profiles to take attention of two 'progenitor' lines. I've combined points and traits into notes, though, because of clutter.
