Lead him to the tree.

Then start moving back and forth, "searching," etc. The tree is light, and doesn't exactly look monstrous, so best to make it seem like we don't know where the beast went.

+1, maybe lead it to our hatchlings, so we can use him as fertiliser next turn?

A tree full of spider eggs, "Not monstrous"

Hold onto the strangeness for now, if the knight gives us trouble we can spew strangeness all over him. For now, lets just see how he handles the crossing.

The spider takes the others back to the dark world. In the crossing, the snake and the knight seem able to cross without too much trouble - they simply leap across, spending as little time in the strangeness as possible.
However, when the spider tries to cross, the strangeness it holds within, combined with that outside, breaks it apart, scattering some of its light.

The spider survives the crossing, but is now very small.
It leads the two back to the tree, but there is no monster.
Upon inspection of the fruit, Knight of Honour says, "Ah! There are traces of strangeness in these! Are they offspring of the beast, perhaps?"

The spider suggests that the tree may be a disguise for the monster.
"Ah! Perhaps! Stand back and I will see what is hidden within it!"

As the Knight is about to strike at the tree, a mighty roar shakes the darkness. It is coming from the direction of the bright world.

"There is something behind us!"

Hide behind the tree.

I say we air on the side of caution.

Let the knight destroy the tree, if he can. Thank knight and snake an see them returned to thier world. (Also, consume any light from the fallen world tree) then we hunt down our world tree sapling and take a cutting to replant our world tree. We bide our time, we grow strong, and soon we will return to conquer the world of the knight and the snake.

I agree. We can still also bring up the issue of the bright side monster, and save our tree at the same time by staring that the bright is in more immediate danger but you are to weak to follow them, and will try to take care of the tree. We can then take a cutting of the tree and hide it, and then cut it down, while they are gone, and then prepare for their return.

The spider tells the other two to go back and guard their own world, while it will take care of the tree-monster.
They race back to their own world, leaving the spider to take a cutting of the tree. It takes the new sapling to the opposite side of the darkness to hide it from the others. Across the strangeness, it sees a red world with some kind of... creature? Growing around it.

The spider returns and eats some of the tree, cutting it down.

The spider has grown a little bit from the part of the tree that it ate.

Plant all the fruits, then eat the rest of the tree.

Why not split the tree into branches and plant all the branches?

Consume the strange eggs. Vomit the strangeness into the black. Suck out the blackness from the tree and use it to fill in the strangeness hole we created.

The spider plants the fruits in the hope that they may eventually grow. It consumes the tree, becoming very large, and only a little dimmed.

The spider hears the sounds of roaring and conflict from the direction of the bright world.
