The strangeness is a part of the world, like the darkness, so the spider cannot really enter it.
The spider, ever insatiable, eats some of the strangeness, tearing apart its form. The spider grows again, but its form is somewhat warped.

The remaining strangeness is pushed ever closer to the edge of the darkness.

The spider cannot create life by itself, but it creates eggs for the world tree, hoping that it will nourish them.

It loses some of its self to create the eggs, diminishing in size.
