She smiles.
"You are looking at one of them!

For Life majors, the department made the decision to split the first-years into two classes. The first would be an introduction to Life magic from a healing and restorative perspective, while the other would focus on altering biology. The latter involves a considerable amount of taxonomy and memorization, which they felt wasn't suitable for a beginner's course, but Dr. Nabul kept pulling rank. He really wanted to teach freshmen, for whatever reason..."
"Oh, I see. Are first years to take both, then, or pick one or the other?"

"Yess, somewhat special. Introduction to life magic, but with a focus on biology. Classification, taxonomy, and so on. Department said it wouldn't be so successful, but I have been here longer than any of the new administrators. Most of them are clerics, healer types, you know? Told them I would prove them wrong in the first quarter."

"Oh, I see. Are first years to take both, then, or pick one or the other?"

"Not quite. Most students meet once or twice a day for their Major, and once for their Minor. Then club meetings, usually. Our clubs get a lot of support and faculty advisors are pretty hands-on. For Life, most students are expected to take just the Healing course. In my honest, humble opinion, healing is one of those things that you really need to know before tackling the more complicated stuff.

Dr. Nabul is pretty indignant about it though. He blames the city chaplain for trying to have us train clerics, or something like that. You could take his class instead. There's about sixty freshmen this year so assuming twenty per department, I expect he'll get around five students in total, but I could be wrong."

"Classification sounds awfully boring, but only practical application of Life besides healing is alteration. Is that what you are talking about? If so, count me in! Because that's what I came here to study for."

"Can't alter the creatures of Nature without knowing what they are, right? But yess, the class is focused on students learning alteration. Not restoration. Whether you could skip learning basics, I can't say."

So does Kyron find anything interesting?

(Sorry)

It seems there's one room left that's noteworthy, and that's the one room at ground level. The Quartermaster said it was room 112, which you find among the upperclassmen's quarters.

At first glance the room doesn't seem that odd. It has a window and two beds as usual, a washroom, a table for dining and studying, and a closet.
Inside the closet, however, you find that there are already uniforms inside. Not just the standard ones, either, but jade-colored dresses with golden trims and highlights. It looks like something a noblewoman would wear, and the fact that you're accidentally looking through her belongings gives you pause.

Well then, let's just not be inside, shall we.  Exit posthaste.  Presumably that means they will just happen to return.

Wait, just how... Shadow building, right. Someone decided to test out their cool new magic. It would be nice if I could alter my perception of light here, but I have no idea how I could do that.

"Wait, Sha Kahigan. Right"

Attempt to use the Sha Kahigan to use energy from my body and focus it onto the head of my staff to have it emit light.

It then travels around the group of guards like a boomerang. It (5) Slits another throat, (Three 6's in a row!) decapitates three more (!), (4) slices open the last guard's arm, and (2) narrowly misses a random bystander. It then flies back into your hand. Holy crap.

I suppose that means I should set up classes with you now?"

(Sometimes I don't have time to do a full writeup. In that case I'll usually run dialogue so it can be resolved faster.)

Update 9

Sit down in an unobtrusive manner, show that I'm receptive to the song.  Continue listening, this is fascinating.

As you sit down, the song picks up the pace again:

(I am bad at lyrics)

As the hymn finishes, people start murmuring amongst themselves. A man and a woman, both near to where you sat down, walk up as others watch with a curious eye.
"What is your name, brother?" the man asks.

"Excuse me,"

"A fine day for our sad carnal drapery."
Raioyris says in brisk to Christine.

Raioyris uses his Sha to absorb and imbue his staff with Vo.

Then he appears before a Fire instructor or a nearby crow. Which ever he happens to see first.

You vandalize the decorations with no mercy, sweeping your Sha across. The plants seem to be fire-resistant, though not fireproof by the looks of it. Their needles turn an ash grey, and you can see glowing embers on their tips although the plants themselves do not catch fire. Nonetheless, you have numerous Vo (), attached to your wing like glass ornaments on a tree decorated for the Winter feast.

[-] You bump into a balding middle-aged man wearing a purple trenchcoat-inspired uniform, with a blue tunic with white squares underneath. With nothing more than a passing glance, he already deduces your name.
"Raioyris, correct?" You notice two large daggers at his waist, sheathed across his back. Both have ornamented handles, one patterned black steel with silver highlights, the other silver with hanging onyx gemstones.

He doesn't seem to be looking directly at the smouldering plants, and the breeze is blowing the smell away.

Well then, let's just not be inside, shall we.  Exit posthaste.  Presumably that means they will just happen to return.

You exit posthaste.

It doesn't seem like anyone was just about to return, though. The halls are empty, save for a dude that looks terribly inebriated stumbling around for his room.

Imagining an invisible arm from the area of your left shoulder, you guide it toward the staff, and...

[-] It lights up! The ivory head is now glowing. And not burning, by the looks of it.

You glance over at the commotion, but see a short, long-haired figure moving in from the direction of the checkout desks, toward the two bickering students. She then turns her head, and you see a glint in her eyes... before she reaches out and stuffs your flame away with a flick of the wrist.

It's still weakly burning, but it's no longer emitting the warmth it did when it lit up.

"Ooh, I see. Well, I hate to shy away from a challenge, but healing really does sound like an essential foundation. Maybe I'll ask this Doctor for extra credit if I find myself with an excess of time.

I suppose that means I should set up classes with you now?"

"Indeed! All you have to do is tell me in person, and I'll add you to my roll sheet. It's more of a formality, really, since I don't take roll. It's your loss if your wasting opportunities.

You'll find that with a lot of professors here, actually.

As for taking both classes at once, I'm not aware of any rules against doing so."

((Kind of surprised dark sea green is a recognized color.))

"Excellent, then I officially request being added to the rolls. When and where do we meet?"
