That one's actually pretty reasonable, all considered.  Rodents and lagomorphs are very closely related, after all; the two combined encompass a single, united, and very probably (based on modern research) monophyletic clade.

When I was about 7 or 8 my dad shaved the beard he'd had for my entire life.  I successfully convinced my younger brother that clean-shaven-dad was not in fact our dad, rather he was a (fictional) uncle that was visiting for a few days.

Hmm. I... was convinced rabbits were rodents until I was in my 20s?

If you asked that 100 years ago, almost all scientists would have answered "yes". But then "rodent" was redefined to not include rabbits and hares and they got their own Order Lagumorpha. Above Rodentia and Lagumorpha is a clade called Glires which only contains those two orders. And "glires" is just latin for "Doormouse". So we now have a bizarre situation where a rabbit is no longer counted as a "rodent", which was the traditional common understanding, but it is sub-typed under the name "glires" meaning "doormouse", which is something nobody ever considered it to be.

My point is that you were never far off, and classifying rabbits as rodents actually makes more sense than the system they ended up with.

The strangest one I can remember at the moment was when my sister convinced me that an igneous rock from the BBQ was a lump of brown sugar. Needless to say it did not taste very good.

Or the time she told me the common white butterfly was poisonous, and I mistook that to mean venomous. Or the time we tried to make "dry" ice by leaving it out in the sun.

Ooh, hey, I literally just got a new one from skimming the RimWorld change log: contrary to my belief, panthers aren't a real species.  What we call panthers are actually just black cougars, jaguars, or leopards, depending on the specific panther you happen to be looking at; more often the latter two, since reputed melanistic examples of the first have never been authenticated or were confirmed to be misidentified.  The closest you get in reality is the panthera genus.  Over two decades, poof.

To be fair, they are. But only to small critters where the quantity of cyanide is much larger relative to their body mass. You shouldn't feed birds apple seeds, for instance.

In first grade, I was told by a friend that milkweed (you know, the stuff monarch butterflies eat or whatever) was lethally poisonous on contact.

Not something I was convinced of, but when I was in grade school I knew a guy who thought you could get to the moon by stacking dump trucks on top of each other and making all of them lift their scoops simultaneously.

When I was a kid I never made the connection between trials and getting arrested, despite being familiar with lawyers, courtrooms, and phrases like "tell it to the judge"; as a result I thought you got sentenced and jailed by the police if you were arrested, with no chance to argue your innocence. (On that note, until a couple days ago, my sister apparently thought you could be acquitted for any crime, including murder, by paying bail.)

My sister once believed that it was illegal to insult or make fun of the President of the US. Similarly, when I was about five, I thought that free speech was heavily suppressed in Britain, because I was always hearing about how great the free speech in the US is compared to some other countries, but Britain was the only other country I could think of. (I now realize that the intended comparison was to China, North Korea, and other such nations.)

Which reminds me: when I was... maybe five (?), I drew a world map from 'memory'. As I remember it, it was a big, completely empty ocean in the middle and a ring of land around it, making a sort of squiggly border near the edge of the paper. On the left side was the Americas, and Canada was at the top-left. As you moved right from Canada, you passed through "where the lions live". On the rightmost edge of the paper was China. The entire bottom edge was Antarctica. I think I added Australia in the middle of the ocean as an afterthought. I'm not sure how I forgot Europe entirely, or in that case where I thought Britain was.

When I was really little, I thought that when a man and a woman got married, the wife's body somehow knew "OK, baby time now" and then bam, a baby.

I've convinced a surprising number of people that Lucario (the Pokemon) was the dying wish of a terminally ill Pokemon fan, who wanted his fursona Blueberry Coyote to be in a Pokemon game.

The greeks depicted panthers as yellow with coloured spots. So rather than real / not-real, it probably just mean leopard.

While not entirely that related to the thread's topic, I sooooometimes get these weird, 4th wall breaking-ish moments? They're very rare, but at times my mind just kind of goes "huh, wait, who am I again? Are these people my family? This is my girlfriend? Woah". Its a completely alien feeling of feeling like I am a different person, and it usualy lasts a few seconds until my brain snaps back into place and I feel like myself again. They're very rare, usualy happening just once or twice a month, but its very noticeable when it actualy happens.

Have you seen the previews for the next MGS game? There's nothing they wouldn't sink to anymore, I think.
