"Not a chance!" taunts Kanade, swept up in the speed and the adrenaline of the moment -- The way Kanade is acting right now is almost enough to inspire awe, as the girl has a grin on her face to accompany her taunt as she moves like a falcon, naturally and quickly, off like a bolt the moment the first word leaves her lips. She slides forwards a bit, practically twirling with the freedom of her movement. Then, with a flourish of her hand and a quick crushing of the fragment, that appears, Kanade summons Lenore to deal out a blast of fire to one of the more familiar shadows, the striped ball halfway to incinerated by the blast.
Kanade deals a solid 48 damage as she slams Lying Hablerie 2's weakpoint, staggering it!

As slick and quick as Kanade had been, the toughest of the three shadows, rocked by the previous blow or not, was only an inch behind. Kanade turns her head from her successful attack just in time to watch the pink ball race to within five yards of her. It twists, reeling up to deal her a mighty blow, its long and bizarrely powerful tongue twisting around at high speed right towards her head. Kanade takes a hurried jump backwards, but it doesn't quite look like it's going to be enough! For just a moment, Kanade cringes and closes her eyes, awaiting the impact... and feels just the light flecking of moisture and a light gust of displaced air sending her hair fluttering as the tongue continues past the front of her face. Kanade has dodged by no more than a couple of millimeters.
The Slipping Hablerie misses Kanade!

"I-I'll handle this!" Aoi soon makes good on that statement, as she runs right up to where Kanade is with little hesitation, summoning Faust as she moves to attack the thing that had just swung at her friend. The cloaked figure extends the hand not holding its tome, and grabs onto the creature's absurdly oversized tongue. The Persona has some trouble gaining traction thanks to the fact that it IS grabbing a tongue, but it nonetheless gets a grip and the ball is left to shake briefly before all of a sudden a Bufu is launched down its throat. The hit is wildly effective -- as tough as this thing seems to be, it nonetheless is sent rolling out of Faust's grip and straight to the ground, where its gaping mouth faces upwards, the shadow stunned.
Aoi deals 32 damage and downs the Slipping Hablerie!

Next, the boy Aoi had addressed just before making her move took his opportunity, striking the same opponent that Kanade had just knocked off-balance seconds earlier; the bolt of Zio that promptly connects from Frankenstein to the hostile sphere does its job more than admirably despite Mijimeki's lack of general magical aptitude. Electricity courses through the already well-struck monster, and with its freakish tongue straightening out and twitching almost comically, it proceeds to bounce against the ground and roll mouth upwards, just as stunned as the enemy his childhood friend had just connected with.
Mijimeki deals 26 damage and downs Lying Hablerie 2!

The one floating ball still floating makes its move, but what it does is a completely new behavior; instead of rearing back to strike any of the three Persona-users, it sends itself moving up to the pink ball, that dangerous tongue is... used for a long lick up the side of the pink orb-creature. It's, frankly, completely disgusting to watch. But more important than how disgusting it is is the effect this new behavior has, as the white enemy has just now used Dia on the downed, pink one. It's hard, given its physiology and how it's on the ground, to tell how healed the pink one is, but it does somehow seem to be livelier after receiving the healing.Lying Hablerie 1 heals the Slipping Hablerie for 65 health!

The other zebra-color being is on the ground, having been slammed in quick succession by Mijimeki and Kanade. Needless to say, as it rolls there on the ground, it won't be making a terrible threat any time soon.

Smoke and ozone. Lingering in the air.
Footfall. Swift, but light.
A rush of air. On her side.
Brief, barely felt, but there.
And then, impact.

Before she herself has realized it, Aoi was driving an open palm into the Lying Hablerie.

What the hell was she thinking? That's easy - she wasn't. She wasn't thinking, she was pivoting around and driving her arm forwards like a piston. A strike with no wind up, no warning, and absolutely no thought into whether or not trying to hit a giant levitating sphere was a good idea at all. It was fast, and, that's about it.

Sounds of life and death
Thoughts of battle rush through head
Burning steel is flung

Mijimeki stands up straight, unleashing a round of bullets into the white-and-black orb with a leer.

While her friends think philosophical and florid thoughts, Kanade thinks of what's in front of her.

That is, that a giant floating rainbow ball just tried to smack her with its tongue. And failed.
"Ara ara, you'll have to try harder than that."

The lone properly-floating enemy, one of the two more familiarly-colored monsters, is lucky enough to get a swing off before the three teenagers can execute the wave of magic they intend to send flying lethally at it and its partner; the green-haired Persona user soon receives a fairly sharp crack to the head courtesy of the being's tongue -- it doesn't flatten her, nor does it render her unsteady on her feet, but it most certainly does hurt quite a bit, and Aoi is left in a state of being rather ruffled by the fight.
Aoi receives 35 damage!

Mijimeki is the first of the party to make a move, but instead of summoning his Persona to once again hammer away at his opponents, he reaches towards his hip and pulls out his (blatantly illegal) pistol, clicking back the hammer, taking aim at the creature that just hurt his friend, and pressing the trigger. A bullet lances out from the barrel of his gun with a flash and a loud BANG... and skims by an inch from the side of the thing.
Mijimeki misses with a weapon attack!

Aoi also makes an attempt to attack with her weapon, the tongue-slapped girl suddenly launching off towards the other white-and-black enemy, the one on still on the ground and wholly pathetic, and being somewhat hurt doesn't do a thing to stop her from taking one last step, leaning forward and practically hurtling herself palm-first into the wounded aberration, her gloved hand slapping right into it... and then continuing onward as the thing disappears into shadowy motes again, her arm disappearing into the darkness of the being's death... it's a good thing that that doesn't appear to actually do anything.
Aoi deals 20 damage to Lying Hablerie 2 and kills it!

Then Kanade unleashes a wave of fire into the now solely-remaining, healing enemy -- Lenore is summoned, and in her hands is formed a ball of fire that grows until it is a nice little blaze. Then, Kanade moves her hands, and Lenore follows suit, the fireball being flung towards Kanade's target, the fireball exploding into a gout of flame on impact -- it isn't quite dead, the monster, but it sure is awfully close, floating leaning forwards and with its tongue hanging out.
Kanade does 50 damage (!) and staggers the Lying Hablerie 1.

The pink ball, the only one left, rolls around on the floor, stunned itself, providing Kanade and Mijimeki (the ones who hadn't got slapped) a bit of a respite in these last few seconds.

Another flash of light and Faust appears above, lunging for the Slipping Hablerie as an ice spell readies in its hands.

There's a flash of movement as Kanade one again makes her agility known, but this time the nimble girl doesn't even bother to summon Lenore. Evidently feeling the desire to take out a monster with her own strength, Kanade twirls her spear in one hand, then grasps it with the other hand and takes a large step forwards, thrusting it out at her opponent! The striped ball, barely alive beforehand, is easily punctured, the blade of the demi-naginata slipping into whatever passes for its flesh.
Kanade does 14 damage -- which is past what is needed to kill the sole remaining Lying Hablerie!

Aoi, a bit worked up at this point, takes two running steps towards the pink enemy before it can pull itself up off of the ground, the girl letting out a cry and summoning her Persona Faust. The robed figure lunges towards the enemy too, its cloak fluttering as a cold blue energy gathers between its hands -- and launches out towards her enemy, ice gathering on the creature's surface before shattering! It gets another bounce and roll.
Aoi does the Slipping Hablerie 29 damage and ensures it will be Staggered when it gets up!

The present sole survivor of the monsters does roll itself back roughly upright, but it clearly has already been unbalanced by Aoi's relentless assault. The dumb thing then proceeds to try to take it out on the one of the three probably the most able to take whatever it dishes out: Mijimeki. It swings its mighty tongue and slams it against his chest, but Mijimeki takes the attack fairly solidly, standing there unbowed and unbroken.
Slipping Hablerie Bashes Mijimeki for 25 damage!

It seemed that Mijimeki had been the slowest to the draw, as he brought his gun up and watched Kanade pierce through his intended target. But he sure wasn't about to just stand there stupidly, so even as he received a strike from the striped, tough monster, Mijimeki was turning his gun on it... and after being hit, pulling the trigger, sending a bullet out at it with a BANG! The bullet sank into the creature, drawing an angry noise from it.
Mijimeki shoots the Slipping Hablerie for 25 damage!

"On my mark!"
Faust gathers up ice energy into the form of something resembling a stake and slams it down into the remaining monster.

Her cloaked persona raising its hand into the air and gathering around it its cold energy, Aoi shouts an "On my mark!" and then, shortly, springs into action, running towards the lone remaining creature, her Persona floating behind her... and with a shout, bringing her hands downwards, Faust mirroring the motion to move its own hands down, the icy energy coalescing into a Bufu stake that was viciously stabbed into the monster, the most unconventional ice attack piercing into its own "flesh" and finally forcing it to drop to the ground heavily.
Aoi deals 36 damage with a Bufu, downing the Hablerie!

With their only enemy on the ground, immobile and helpless, the group immediately throws their all in an attack to keep it down! First, Mijimeki pulls out his gun and loud bangs (to which other Shadows don't appear to be reacting) fill the air as the boy peppers it with bullets. But that isn't all, as Kanade and Aoi flank the dying enemy, and proceed to stab it to very thorough death, Aoi pulling out and reusing the stake of Bufu to hit it over and over again until the stake finally shatter, whereas Kanade doesn't ease off of it until it gives up the ghost, vanishing into black and red shadow.
All enemies downed! All-Out Attack, 75 damage, Slipping Hablerie dead!

The shadow around the monster's body melts away into the air, and soon enough the party sees three shimmering items: A red, glimmering stone and two glittering blue ones!
One Life Stone, Two Soul Drops looted!

The party is outside the train station, and now no more Shadows are coming to intercept them and prevent them from entering. With the end of the battle, that ineffable pulling of the soul returns, albeit not distractingly so, towards the station.

With ragged breath, Aoi ducks into the station sniffing at the air for smoke and ozone. "H-heal me please. B-before we continue."

Sniff the air, examine the surroundings, but stay out of sight. Get healed.
