Mijimeki rolls his eyes and nods in thanks, taking the money.

Sitting back down, Aoi allows herself a quiet giggle.
"We didn't all have to go up there, not that I'm one to talk."

After a couple of minutes, the girl at the counter has prepared the group's drinks, and after realizing that she forgot to ask Mijimeki's name to call him over, she just kind of puts the drinks on the counter and looks expectantly at him.

He stares at her, taking an experimental sip of his coffee.

It's coffee. Not the absolute best in the world, but still good enough.

"Thank you. Sorry about disturbing you."
Aoi takes the remaining two drinks and carefully sets them down at the table.

The three spend some more time at the quiet little teahouse, drinking their tea (and coffee) and continuing their chatting (albeit mostly Kanade and Aoi), but inevitably the clock continues to turn, and the three part ways for the day, heading back to their respective houses, Kanade to the more upper-class neighborhood where she lives and Aoi and Mijimeki to their own little neighborhood. Aoi and Mijimeki get to their houses and go to bed without any difficulty...

Kanade
8:00 PM. Kanade has had her dinner for her night, and has returned to her room. All is as normal for her evening routine... until quite suddenly it isn't normal at all. There is the soft drag of her window opening behind her, and when she turns to look, all she manages to see is a brief glimpse of a grey cloaked figure, before there's an explosion of blue that she can't quite make sense of... and then her eyes grow unnaturally, inescapably heavy, and she slips into sleep...

Aoi and Mijimeki
12:00 AM, midnight. Aoi and Mijimeki's eyes both open with a start. There's an unexpected and wholly unnatural feeling in both of them, one that woke them both from their slumber in a frightful instant: it feels as if something is tugging at them, something from inside, not physically but some emotional pull that is inexorably pointing outside of their homes.

Footfall.
Lights. Blinding.
Cold. Biting.
Doesn't matter. She continues on.
Curtains torn aside. Windows swing open.
Noise. The night's breeze slipping in.

Fabric scrapes roughly against skin, trembling hands grasping around a phone, frenzied fingers fumbling upon buttons.
Noise. In her head. A racing pulse. Adrenaline. Fear freezing through her veins.
Light. Spilling out into the darkness beyond. Into the outside world. She scans out her window, dials a number, and makes a call.

Mijimeki's phone should begin ringing, soon enough.

Surprised eyes open
Stoicism, gone in the night
Fearful of the dark

A heart beats wildly
Even the jaded can fear
That which is unknown

Slowly, alarm clears
Narrowed eyes pierce through the dark
Yet nothing is seen

A comforting tone
A bright light in the darkness
The phone is opened

"Hello," said the moth
Even he desires a bond-
That which conquers fear

A voice. A response.
Fast, faster than it should be. No hint of exasperation, no sign of that oh-so-typical irritation.
"You're up as well? L-look, I-I don't know what's going on, I-I, I need to go, now. I need to go out. I don't know where. I don't know why. I-I just need to. P-please stay on the phone, if... if I stop responding c-call the police."

Mijimeki seems to breathe in, and slowly breathe out again. "You need to calm down." The words are said slowly, as if he doesn't want to make a mistake speaking them.

Silence.

A crash.
Plastic against wood.
Chair against desk.

A clenched fist impacts the surface.
Panting. Slowing, fading.

"O-okay... okay... okay..."
Another pause. Another breath.
"W-why are you also up this late?

He hesitated, for a moment. "... I don't know."
