I still think capybara men are good. The size of dwarves for steel armor and are amphibious which I personally think is awesome. Can go down the sewers without any trouble, can sleep in ponds, can more easily swim across large bodies of water. Also capybaras look real cool irl. A capybara man would do as well. Its not awesome strong but its a decent choice.

I'm happy to see this.  In my first fortress I always had capybaras around.  My newbie, untrained, unarmed dwarfs were getting their butts kicked by the capybaras and many statues were built.  That fortress fell to a goblin siege (I'm a newbie myself) and my next fortress was attacked by a were-capybara.  After isolating the infected (and suffering a mercifully brief loyalty cascade) I managed to figure out how to station my one remaining were-capybara in a hut during the full moon.  I am now seriously considering retiring the fortress and trying to infect an adventurer capybara-man.  How cool would that be?  A were-capybara capybara-man...

OK...  It sounded cooler in my head, but you get the idea.

The saddest thing is that the underground animal people aren't playable. :V

For some reason, I just had an image of a were-capybara capybara man, surounded by undead capybara minions. This capibara army doesn't fear death, and can breathe underwater. And they are heading towards civilization to infect all beings.

Sounded cool too in my head.

Actually, there's playable underground animal people, but only one type, Gorlaks.

It'll be totally cool to play as Bat man, for example.

True. It's overall simple to add the outsider-playable token that humans have, to the creature enties for underground animal people though.

I personally like lizard men. Moreso if modded to human size, but eh.

Why are Mosquito Men so special? I looked at their article in the wiki but got no answer for this.
Four arms, flyer, females can suck blood, doesn't need to sleep. That would be why they are good.

But I don't know where their fame comes from ::)

Not the foulest one can find, that's for sure. Probably the local garbage dump.

What animal-men races are capable of wearing normal armor sizes (human-sized, dwarf-sized,etc)? I've heard people mention capybara-men are dwarf-sized, but what else?

What animal-men races are capable of wearing normal armor sizes (human-sized, dwarf-sized,etc)? I've heard people mention capybara-men are dwarf-sized, but what else?
The sizes that can wear dwarf/goblin/elf clothes are: (52500,70000); for human clothes: (61250,81666); therefore:
Code: (Dwarf/Goblin/Elf) [Select]
Emu man 52,500
Wolf man 55,000
Capybara man 57,500
Aardvark man 60,000
Cassowary man 60,000
Cheetah man 60,000
Ibex man 60,000
Impala man 60,000
Leopard man 60,000
Mntn goat man 60,000
Cougar man 65,000
Hyena man 65,000
Code: (Human) [Select]
Cougar man 65,000
Hyena man 65,000
Merperson 70,000
Jaguar man 72,500
Snppng trtl man 75,000
Wild boar man 75,000
Kangaroo man 80,000
Ostrich man 80,000

Cougar and hyena men can equip both dwarf and human armor. Additionally, humans and dwarves can likewise equip those armors.

@King_of_Baboons
Yes to blood sucking and yes to innate swimming.

@Spriggans
Nope. Merpeople lack the tags to do so.

@OP
Quite late to respond, but peregrine falcon people have the highest move speed in the game at 5.25 when flying fast.
