It'll be so much better when the other two people get back and buy their stuff so that the hunt can begin proper. So tempted to just send then off as is but they haven't yet decided which whale to hunt. As for the ongoing name vote I have a solution prepared.

I think you missed my post from earlier. In case you did, I bought

1 500 point mounted railgun

1 400 point tranq round for the railgun

1 100 point default round for the railgun

Ah right those were yours. I actually got those in already. Just forgot to deduct it from your money. Just one of you left then. Sorry about that.

"This automated control unit has been keeping track of your spending. Most of you have already spent all of your meager funds, but some of you still have some credits remaining. Techni Caliope Shunal still has 1000 credits, and Andel Dieter has 115. In regards to the name of this ship, this automated control unit has observed the dissenting opinions of its owners and has taken it upon itself to introduce a compromising opinion. Your ship has been registered temporarily as the Hyperious Interstellar Border Occurrence Peequod Pod. This automated control unit is programmed to help resolve conflicts in creative manner. That is all."

The voice sounds a bit smug throughout the briefing.

Edit: Thought you'd like to know, but personalities and combat tactics for the whales are complete. I've gone to a fair bit of trouble thinking up just how each whale I've generated would behave as a result of the traits and attributes it possesses. I hope you notice some of the more interesting behaviors and appreciate them a bit while you try to shoot them to bits. Sure they're still "just animals" and have limited intelligence, but hey. In any event, I can't wait to see which one you pick.

Oh my god. Person, are you going to randomly update every time someone makes an action? Am I going to have to scan through sixty posts to find relevant information, before i even have a chance to spend a damned dime? I have no clue what is going on now. I barely lucked into reading the list of possible whales, two and a half pages ago.

Who has bought what?
In particular, who has bought what ship items, and who has what monies left over?
Did we buy a useless ship ram instead of something like, maybe a mounted laser?

At least the crew is listed in the OP, so I can check stats and all easily enough, but so help me, if I get to this game again tomorrow, and we are waist deep in some seething mass of space eels, with two of the crew trying to stab the eels with spoons, one crew wandering into the void with our only functional pilotbot, and someone else casually looting my character because I don't post every fifteen minutes ...

"Alright Techni, howdya feel about using those remaining credits there upgrade or hull mounted blade?"
Fuck no. A mounted blade is a stupid idea. We should have gone with a mounted laser. Do we even have harpoons? We're trying to make money here, not tear our ship to pieces in the process of tearing our first bounty into useless chum.

Telyor and Andel have no gender.

I'll buy:
(200) 2 val combat suit
(100) upgrade the turreted laser 1 val locate turreted laser on the belly of the ship (ventral I believe?)
(500) compression laser 5 val

(200) reserve these val for items the others haven't purchased. I'll spend them when I know what the hell is going on

Edit: waiting on clarifications.

Sorry about that. Kinda went overboard with the posts. Shouldn't be so bad from here on out. No idea what I was thinking. I might just be too used to having 50 posts per page. Also maybe I figured a sort of "on ship" or "at base" thing like some games have wouldn't be too bad. Also missed that about Andel's skill points. Fix that please asap. And yeah I am still awaiting gender from those two. I will say that it isn't relevant yet for the current 3 whale options, but it will be eventually so honestly as long as they submit before the end of this first hunt it'll be fine.

In regards to purchases, the crew has bought mostly hand held weapons, but ship weapons include a 1 Val ram blade, a 1 Val railgun, and a decent compression laser turret. You have a lot of free good quality harpoons to start with so don't worry about that too much.

Edit: Also it would cost 400 to upgrade the turreted laser. 1 Val is actually mostly fine for laser weapons though. As an aside, combat will be turn based. Much less hectic than this.

So the ship laser is already good? and the hand laser should be fine at one val? What val is the ship laser?

Do we have a system that is not currently covered by the crew? Something that needs robots or upgrades?

Ship laser is at 1 Val, but don't worry about that much. A turreted laser is pretty much always significantly stronger (and longer ranged) than a hand laser, barring extreme value differences. As for what isn't covered, we might not have a pilot after Andel corrects their skills, so that's something to consider. The ship's systems are basically fine.

Edit: I'm just going to set all of Andel's skills to 5 as a temporary fix.

And the hand laser would be fine at one val? if so, then

(100) 1 val compression laser
(100) 1 val compression laser
(200) 2 val battle suit
(300) 3 val jet pack

(300) reserve for hull / systems repair / miscellaneous expenditures

I believe that will be workable as a starting set. Thanks for bearing with my little outburst there.

I figure at some point, you're just gonna run outta fucks to give and just off yourself whenever you get hurt at all. It's not like there's any downsides to it. Hangover? Suicide will fix that. Stubbed your toe? Suicide. Headache? Suicide. Papercut? Suicide.

Going to repost the whales so you can all decide properly.

Danger rating 3: Estimated mass small to moderate. Seems like it isn't worth the trouble.
Danger rating 3: Estimated mass moderate. Some electronic and communicative distortion present.
Danger rating 2: Estimated mass small. Second unidentifiable reading present, possibly anomalous.

Also Ozarck you can only wear one suit at a time. Perhaps later suits that perform dual functions will arrive, but I'd pick just either the battle or jet pack suit. Or you could keep one in reserve in case the other gets damaged I guess.

Edit: To the Moonlit Shadow, yes. There's an effectively unlimited stock of Standard Suits aboard the ship, stored for emergency purposes in enough places that I won't bother putting backup suits in people's inventories unless they're unique.
