They're firing on targets 10 klicks away, I'd say they are actually pretty accurate.

I could actually see WWI Medic, or something similar, as a mobile game.
Wouldn't mind a slightly prettyfied version myself... on computer.

... but as for the original question, it's fairly random from what I remember. I don't think there's rolling barrages programmed in.
