(why'd I tear the feet off, something like that, a busted joint be easy to fix. Somple prostethis work on a joint and a spring, so that the foot can bend some what forwards but will move back to a natural position once lifted, it would mean I'd be effectively walking with a bit of a limp, but it'd still allow running. And seeing how the drones work and the guns work I could easily scavenge the spring, metal, and screws from one of the broken drones))
This was why I specified having the ammo internaly stored in lightly armored containers, to minimize damage or chance of internal ignition
going with modified battle plan:
Keep everything cloaked.
scavenge grenades and grenade launchers from the mortar drones. Scavenge particle cannons from the broken drones
Have the two non danaged particle drones fire down at the isis car
Keeped the other working particle drone oriented to point to the north, shooting at literaly anything that aproaches from that direction.
And if I see/detect any heavy armor or super soldiers I will open fire with all weaponry, 2 frag grenades and 1 pike missile in the case of a super soldier
Followed by any and all surviving mortar drones launching 1/5 grenade from the launchers
Using method described above do the following-
makeshift legs such as high tension spring attached the the heel and a peice of metal, to keep the foot from snapping all the way back from the spring, but stil allow for some movement over terrain, to make some basic feet to make walking a bit more easy and should allow for running.
What I am describing with the legs isn't too far off how these work:
Front can left up or down but the spring alway moves it back to the recet position, the way one run would be a bit different going from heel-flat-toe to a more flat-toe, which keeps the center of mass always either on a leg or pushing off a leg. This ironicly allows for an increased stride length. In fact the same sort of running style is how you are supposed to run when wearing minimalist shoes like vibram five fingers, which I wear /all/ the time.
Move south torwards the crash site, try to get to the pilot and keep him from dieing. Also look for ammo and supplies in the wreckage, don't put out the fire. It should keep any heat signiture I am putting off (though that should be covered by the photon dodge as heat would be detected via infrared radiation) from being seen.
Have drones scout out around in a 100 meter area, avoiding hostiles for now, looking for a suitable building filled with, at most light infantry, windows open to show the intersectIon, the crash site, and east and west, 3 doors at most.
If I can attempt to hook up the scavenged grenades and mortars to myself.
Check how much ammo I still have. The conventional ammoe is commonly used ammo, but seeing that I was using better quality ammoe then what these soldiers may be using, I may not be at full con. Weapon strength, but not much to matter.
((You tore your feets off because they don't support your weight anymore. It wobbles and slides in manner that is less comfortable than taking them out entirely. Keep in mind you have around 300kg weight on you.))
Invisbility mode activated. Don't go leaning on any walls because while the cloaking field adjusts to your body pose it still needs few ten centimeters safety range to prevent accidental and sudden exposure, because you can move faster than it can adapt.
What mortar drones? You grab few mortar rounds and shove them on some unspecified pocket. Scavanging particle cannons from broken drones is kinda useless. Dangerous corrosive liquids are leaking out of their mini nuclear reactors and cannons are useless without their reactor. Not to mention they are so big and heavy you need your both hands to aim one. Perhaps you could carry one with one hand, but you have to drop one if you want to use another. Well, you salvage one cannon without its powersource.
Next then, time to take care of approaching ISIS. Operating strictly on sonar the particle cannons take aim on basically unarmored Toyota Hilux and fire simultanously. I recall saying these particle cannons are not very silent, right? Pilot electrolaser turns air into plasma almost instantaneously which alone is enough to cause shock wave, but then Mashenblov effects takes place and pushes all that plasma out of the way creating vacuum channel which creates second shockwave that boosts previous. Then stream of ionized hydrogen slams against hot metal surface at 99% of speed of light, turning said rather thins surface into rapidly expanding cloud of plasma. More of the particle beam continues through the plasma cloud into engine block and producing more super hot plasma there. And since the particle beam goes through plasma cloud it means it collides with free atoms causing a brief runaway fusion reaction reaching temperature comparable to the core of Sun. Meshanblov field effect collapses and vacuum is filled by still rather hot plasma flooding back into vacuum and this produces THIRD shockwave. And fourth from exploding Toyota. And all that happens under millisecond. Twice.
So that produces biggest thunderclap you have ever had grace to hear, immediately followed by an explosion. Definitely over 160 dB. Perhaps it is good you are inside the container salvaging stuff and invisible. The octet shockwave shatters probably all glass in range of few hundred meters, somehow sparing yours. Small half molter shrapnel flies in every imaginable direction, whistling right past the container doors, somehow avoiding hitting you, your drones and the container altogether. You drop one of smallest drones out of stealth to see the aftermath and boy did you make a mess! Where the terrorist car used to be is now a small crater. Hundreds of lines radiates away from it, starting from variable distances, marking where new projectiles carved ground. All houses around have new holes on walls. Air around and above the crater is rather fucking hot like are the trails of super hot plasma trails left by particle cannons. Thankfully those are rising up rapidly and dispersing as they do so.
Very effective way to tell everyone where you are.
Next your legs. Considering that with TWO particle cannons total weight your feets have to support is easily over 350 kg it won't be easy build any makeshift prosthetics. You could use the pilot laser on your particle cannon to cut suitable strips from the container doors. Actually why not? It's not like you can break anything, right? You use the salvaged cannon for this and tear open its its fancy casing and fiddle with the laser part. Oops, that part was superfluous, right? What's this magnet for? So much useless shit here. For a genius Meshanblov sure likes to pack extra parts into his weapons.
Well, that should work. "Electro" part of the electrolaser is disabled and particle accelerator shouldn't activate either so you can use it as an cutting laser. You pull of powerlines from your personal cannon, connect them to the mutilated one and start cutting suitable strips off the container walls. After a minute you have parts you could use to make those funky feets.
Feet building continues on next turn.
Put the mace through the pilots head. He wasn't going to survive anyways. Monster Maker into the oncoming truck. Two more Monster Makers to the fire to the South. Either a firefight or another super soldier. Might as well take them out. After that, South towards the building. Get high to see what's around. Mace anyone in my way.
Yeah, better move out of the way before those dudes get their eyes on you. You skitter over to the pilot and bring mace down on his head without slightest hesitation, popping it open like over ripe melon. Now that you look him from closer it looks like he only have broken legs and number of bloody cuts. Nothing life threatening, but you have no doubt if he would have made it out. It's a mercy what you gave him.
That car is getting unpleasantly close so you put some distance, running south behind the burning wreck of helicopter and side of the building, looking for a shadow. You find a small dent by side of the house, barely enough to shield you, but you take what you get. In that "hole" you prep your mortar for launching one monster maker round at the people very near you. You aim it almost straight up and fire away. "Plop", it says. What goes up comes down soon enough. Hopefully around the wreck and your cargo container.
((Penguinofhonor, please remind me if Tarantula is resistant to monster maker.))
OW what the fuck! All your ears are hurting, god damn it! And you can't hear a shit anymore! The fuck was that? You peek around and see one enemy near the corpse of your pilot, having dropped his assault rifle and is holding his ears with painful expression on his bearded face. Better hope your body does regenerate as fast as it was promised, because it isn't nice to be deaf.
In south where another fire is going you spy another new pillar of superhot air rising up. Two lines of superhot air are pointing roughly at the presumed root of the hot air pillar, both quickly dispersing and cooling off. You aren't certain what that was, but you are willing to bet your head it's your handiwork of your fellow supersoldier. How nice to tell where he is. Better return the favour. You align your mortar again and drop a round down into the tube. You don't hear what sound it makes, but the round rises like twenty centimeters above the mortar and falls half meters away from you. Oh for fucks sake...
Well, there's a corner four meters away in south west you can use as shield.
Yo, Aoshima!
Oz didn't give your nanites color camouflage.
O.O I gave him a full suite of camouflaging ability. He should be able to appear as anything of equivalent size. He should be able to look like the dirt on the road, the mouse running across the dirt, and the weeds growing in cracks in the pavement, all at once. Color is inherent to camouflaging ability. It practically defines it.
Edit: I let the 'no CF shield' one slide, because, even though I asked about designing it, and assumed it was a matter of programming rather than a change to the actual tech, I never explicitly asked for it. I let the no night vision slide, even though I believe he has access to the full electromagnetic spectrum, if I recall correctly. I even can ignore the vrios minor techs in that last day post I made, because i made them as questions rather than statements, though my intent was to have them available. the only one of those three that matters was the CF kinetic shield anyway.
But camo that doesn't actually hide him? come now.
Okay, I don't whose file I was looking at and where did it disappear to, but you're right. He got the full color camo alright.
first thing first: lights out. Let our eyes adjust to the lower light, then order clones one and two to start moving up with me to the occupied building. Gray goo a hole into the wall if there's no accessible entrances. Try to make it look like blast damage if possible. Clones three and four will scale the roof from a different side. In all cases, open fire with gray goo if spotted by anything.
That reminds me, we never talked with Oz what you exactly use to see. Ozarck, fill me in?
0: There are accessible entrances. Doors. Windows. But they are all shut and locked. But it's not like they can really stop you. You place your hand over lock and let nanites eat all metal parts. It takes about ten seconds. The door opens quietly and you slink inside. The first room is simple. Barely any furnitures. A wooden chair, very basic. Nothing terribly exciting. And dark.
1&2: You watch as unit zero eats the metal lock in ten seconds with his hand and sneaks in. You follow his example.
3-4: While the other three try to get inside you two adapt giant spider shape and drag yourself up the walls. Walls don't prove much in terms of holding points, but various archs and windows make it up enough. There three terraces that make climbing easier and safer too. It doesn't take a minute before you are on highest roof.
From there you can see over the city. Hmm, rather bland sight. Not much to see with so little light. It's like entire city is having a blackout. Some random fires in distance. Two bigger fires closer by, appearance typical to burning petroleum fires. They are about... 500-600 meters away, bit right from your linear path. Moments later you spot an extremely flash of light near the furthest fire followed maybe a second later by a thunderclap far louder than it has any business to be. Lots of tiny bright sparts fly away from there in arcs. An explosion. Definitely worth of checking out. Or perhaps you should just barrage the area with nanite bombs? Just to be certain?
By the way, all your psionics are active powers, so let me know when you want to use any of them. And since you now actually do have camouflage, how do you want it to be?
Start up the scanning suite and try to get a more detailed view of the area.
Thermography doesn't tell you much. It's cool here. Two pillars of something hot rising ahead like a kilometer away behind the buildings. Hmm, a few heat signals from windows down the road on right. Radar detection tells nothing. Nigh vision informs you that those heat signatures are humans peeking from windows. One woman in burka. Few old men. You are not certain if they see you or not. It's dark here and they are not wearing any vision enhancing equipment, but they are roughly looking at your direction.
A moment later a loud thunder booms over the area and all heads disappear. Hmm, no clouds here, you can see stars clearly. You don't think you saw any light associated with lightning strike either. Suspicious. Very. Hard to tell which direction it came from, though.
Just to establish a method of identification of sorts, let's say A-B-C are assault, D-E-F are support, and G and H are recon. You can use their names (Alex, Ben, Carl, David, Erik, Felix, Gunther, Henry) if you remember them.
((I will put semi-RP "internal thoughts" in these spoilers, so as to say what the scientist in you thinks of how you could proceed. You're free to act as you feel necessary, since you represent the actual trained soldier part of the persona.
Also you're all the same mind. You don't need to speak orders to yourselves, or even think them - if you weren't separated for much time, all of you is thinking the same things.))
Likely poorly armored humans.
Minor vehicle support. Guns unlikely to cause damage.
Should try not to waste ammo and stay quiet.
Assault can draw fire and attack in melee. Support and recon can use bows at subsonic to dispatch priority targets and anyone fleeing.
Recon should avoid getting blood on them as it clashes with the camo.
I was going to have a firing line and gun them all down through the the door as its a bit hard to be more noticeable then getting airdropped in to a warzone. Also even if I'm quiet the panic fire from my enemy ruin that. Though saving ammo is a good idea
A-B-C move to the door and draw swords while crouching down. D-E-F move behind them and get ready to shoot armor piercing ammo (regular kind) over the backs of there team mates while G-H stay at the back with their bows ready. The ambush will start with the support firing a quick burst though the door, Then A will cut the lock and the assaults charge out cutting down the surprised enemy. While the doors are open support and recon will advance and gun down anyone far from the swords.
Firing autocannon inside metal container? Good thing your ears are sturdier than human ones.
These SMI implants makes communications very easy. As long as nobody is scanning radio frequencies you can communicate quietly and freely. Asault yous move into position, swords ready, hands ready grab locks and push doors open. Support yous take their position and somewhat silly cat pose where your ass is high and front basically kissing ground. Kinda necessary safety measure if you want to shoot autocannon forward. Tail rests strongly on floor providing all support it can. Supports stay back, bows ready at subsonic setting and SA arrow at hands. All hands ready? All heads nod. Begin operation "Burst out"!
Just as shooting is supposed to start a very loud thunderclap from outside startles you and messes coordination. Everyone just acts on their instincts. Assaults throw their hands up to open doors at same time as supports fire full burst with autocannons. First bullets hits on Alex's both hands and nails them into doors. Recons accidentally flip their bows on hypersonic and fire superalloy arrows straight through doors. Sonic boom is not luckily much inside, but clearly ruptures few eardrums on outside.
Well, the plan is in shambles. Might as well go out and see what happens next. Ben and Carl push the new badly doors open and tear Alex's hands off them. On outside is five arabic men with assault rifles. Two do not have heads and they are currently falling over. Lucky shot, eh? Other three are clearly recoiling from sonic boom, blood flowing from ears and nose. Basically incapacitated already. Except one is firing his rifle by some instinct. By some freak luck he shoots passive radar antenna off of Daniels head. Of course that's about all the damage his poor rifle can cause to you and after that Ben and Carl cut them into various pieces anyway. Little messy, but job done none the less.
Situation check. Five enemy corpses in pieces. One white Toyota Land Cruiser, headlights shattered and windshield cracked. Engine still running. The container is on middle of gravel road in angle. On both sides are solid wall filled with doors and windows in two stories. The road continues on left and right. On left building ends after 50 meters and road leads to more open area. On right the road gets more narrow but also intersects with asphalt road. In that direction is also two pillars of fiery petrol smoke rising up in distance. One is about... 200 meters away? Maybe. Second is doubly as far.
The SA arrows went straight through these poor walls in front of you. Looks more like it was hit by a cannon. You sharp ears catches sounds of movement inside.
What's the second-tallest building that I can see? If it's reasonably tall, I'll head there instead of the mosque. If it isn't very tall, I'll just head to the mosque.
Does the old man count as a witness?
Hypothetically, if one gave broadcast evidence of supersoldier activity in such a way that almost every civilian in the city saw it (say, with floating holograms in the center of the city) and told them to stand in the open or they'll be shot, would that force every other supersoldier to come out of hiding (and thus into sniping range) to kill them?
Hypothetically speaking yes. Assuming you can make a hologram big enough and somehow speak whatever language they speak around here. And assuming they do notice other supersoldiers, then yes, your competitors would be obligated to kill them on sight. It's no guarantee however.
Technically the mosque is second tallest building around. You see two taller minarets about kilometer behind you, in directly opposite of direction where you most likely will find other supersoldiers. No other tall buildings are visible from the ground level where you are currently. This narrow road kinda limits your view range.
If he looks at you then he is a witness. Which is likely if you move, because your cloak works best when you remain stationary. Better play it for sure and just shoot him. Single shot from your semiautomatic rifle is enough to make a mess of his brain and let you move freely. Idiots should keep their heads inside during and after air raid. It's natural selection.
Also better go to mosque first. If nothing else, you'll get better vantage point. On your way you spot a bright flash from ahead, far behind buildings on other side of the city, reflecting from a pair of smoke pillars. Two seconds later thundering boom follows. Hmph, someone is getting busy.
The mosque is surrounded by two meters tall stone wall. It's easy enough to jump over and land on roof of some shed somebody decided make there. The waller area is pretty fine, actually. More than half of the ground is groving with nice green grass. Someone must have been watering these often. Some small storage building few meters on your left. On middle of the walled area is the mosque, much smaller than it looked from outside. Behind it, separated by a sand pathway, is important looking building. Three stories tall, five or six times wider than the mosque, but still not higher than it. It probably would work as your "second tallest building".
Also it turns out this mosque isn't empty. You spy one, two, four, seven armed arabic men patrolling around the courtyard. And a ISIS flag. Yay. Three of them appears to be jogging towards the main gate situated on wall on your right. There are almost certainly more people inside these buildings.
((Let the show begin))
Lets start by having the terrorizer constantly on so I need not worry about anyone approaching me. Once this is done. Have the electronics zombie scrap together several pairs of night vision goggles.
Creeping Terror from the forest has come. Your worst nightmares are here and tonight you can no longer avoid them. Revel in madness, for that's your new state of mind. Now you will know why you fear the night.
The electronics brain is not a zombie, it is in one of the braincases on your back. But after a minute it comes up with a plan how to make those night vision goggles of yours. It's a real hackjob, you better hope you can find some TV's and remotes in this city. It involves obtaining large number of IR LEDS from TV remote controls, an IR camera, few batteries, soldering iron or electrician's tape, and some leather strips or something to hold it together.
Can't find those in forest and fields, so you slowly advance forward with zombies until you reach a path. The path leads you towards screaming and inhuman howling until you reach a nice wide road. It's rather empty, and splits here in multiple roads. On leads left towards pair petrol fire pillars maybe a half kilometer away. Three lead basically opposite direction and none in your preferred direction. But those fires are interesting ones. Especially that flash of light from that direction and thundering crack that follows. Someone started a party already.
On the other news, someone just jumped from a rooftop next to you. Naturally it isn't very high drop because all these buildings are only two stories tall despire of how tightly they are packed. He stands up laughing and stuttering something despite of clearly having a broken leg. He bites his thumb off, digs one of his eyes out and eats them. Then he starts drawing on walls with his own blood, occasionally giggling, screaming, howling, crying and generally being very disturbing to look at. Entire neighborhood is echoing with similiar noises. He pays no attention on you and your zombies.
Yep. No worries. Everything is totally fine.
((OOC note: Would people mind me attempting to draw their abominations of nature/crimes against humanity/super-soldiers?
It would necessitate me knowing their visual appearance to some detail. Not necessarily actual capabilities.
By "drawing" I mean sketching, digitally, in pencil.))
I on the other hand would absolutely love those.
