18 days until deadline.

Due limited amount of time in my hands, I have to be very brief today. Sorry about lack of fluff.

Automatic Research

Emotion simulation is done. And miniaturization of quantum brain proceeds at lightning speed. It's like all you need is to update production line and that's no brainer really. After updates the quantum brain will fit inside someone's chest cavity, though still too large for human skull. Efficiency ho!

I'm sure that it's within my rights to butcher all my research staff so I can use their brains to think better. I mean, they're supposed to help me think, this way will just be... more efficient.

AHEM. Maybe for later. Now, to create braincases. Basic life support, with stored energy and nutrients, inbuilt MMI with all the extras, steel exterior for armor with internal cushioning to protect from concussion. Like a skull, but better™.

Primary braincase and built in MMI composite model are designed quickly and parts built rapidly. The most complex part, actual life support, is still mere idea.

Continue my efforts to strengthen my will by resisting porn/drugs/etc. Try to access meditation classes, like monks or something, maybe they can get me some Buddhist scripture so I can focus on the concept of nirvana/samsara/etc.

Keep offering whatever assistance I can to the Doc, maybe some of this'll give him inspiration.
Not the porn though, that probably wouldn't help.

Intellectual types like Curious George probably won't even have libido. Most likely he will merely invent more effective reproductive method after watching porn. Or new sex position.

But those buddhist mantras are damn good. You memorize a mantra or two and then watch hardcore porn whole day while reciting those mantras. No wood at all. You are not entirely sure if that's really a good thing, but yay for willpower!

OPERATION: HOMEGROWN

Step Four: Invest in robotic solutions for installing devices and applying treatments on comatose apes. We need something with maximum chances of success.

OPERATION: WE HAVE WAYS

Question 1 of the day: is it possible to create a teleportation event by applying appropriate signals to TG-T outside of a human brain, utilizing electrodes and microarrays of chemical release capsules?

Question 2 of the day: if we start looking for highly nontraditional signals (heat, gravitational waves, minor distortions in physical constants, that sort of thing), is it still impossible to find what exactly TG-R is communicating with?

OPERATION: ALL-SEEING EYE

Step Six: design a high-priority hivemind module, its owner's thoughts and desires taking high priority over those of the rest of the minds in a network.

OPERATION: HOMEGROWN
Neuronal test bed is done. Consider your robotic thingy done as well.

OPERATION: WE HAVE WAYS
Answer 1: Yes and no. It needs to be connected to functional brain (so no brain deads). But it doesn't technically need to be in human brain. Mouse brain will do.

Answer 2: Unknown. Keep researching.

OPERATION: ALL-SEEING EYE
Design progress started with minimal results.

Today I closely monitor the combat bodies' growth. I split the rest of my time between my research on defense mechanisms and on perception.

Your toys are growing nicely and very fast. The rate they absorb and use that goo is almost scary. In one day they have gained roughly 25 kilograms weight.

Nothing useable comes from defense mechanisms and perception yet, but some progress is made. Those toys of yours are too nice to watch.

Realize I've really no idea what should be sacrificed to a Random Number God. Write down the longest string of Fibonacci numbers I can from memory, and have an assistant burn it in effigy at the dice shrine. My current state qualifies as having taken brain damage, I'm allowed to make crazy requests. And burning long strings of predictable numbers should work, right?

Your mind is too preoccupied with worst case skenarios of your situation. So it isn't FIBONACCI numbers you write! It's total gibberish!

Hm, even with these growing at record-breaking speed, I'm probably going to be crunched for time getting renegadelobster used to his. I was hoping I'd be able to determine which body is best, then create a new one for him, but it's definitely looking like I'll just have to remove the test subject's brain from the most promising body and replace it with his.

Anyway, I want to get a head start on my post-implantation adaptation tech. I give a test subject nerve endings for an extra arm, then graft one onto them with enough bone and muscle connections to make it theoretically usable. I'm not sure yet whether it'd be better for me to take the muscles and bones from the same body as the arm, or for me to use my healing serum to grow the shouldery bits joining the arm and body. I do whichever should heal faster.

Tomorrow I'll start experimenting on them to get them used to the new arm more quickly. The only difference between someone who knows how to use their arms and someone who doesn't is some changes in their neurons. There has to be a way to push those neurons in the right direction at a faster pace.

Today, in addition to giving that guy an extra arm, I continue to closely monitor the combat bodies, and devote the rest of my time to my perception research.

So, is OPERATION: HOMEGROWN done? The idea of it was to make the test beds. I suppose not necessarily?

OPERATION: HOMEGROWN

Step Five: see if there are ways to accelerate neuron growth to ensure minimum length of time to interface with TG and other modules. Since the apes are comatose and their neural patterns manipulable by virtue of Homegrown's invasive techniques, there's not much worry about

OPERATION: WE HAVE WAYS

Question of the day: what could the signal be? What could it be? What could it be? Something less obvious, perhaps? Something related specifically to brains?

OPERATION: ALL-SEEING EYE

Step Six: design a high-priority hivemind module, its owner's thoughts and desires taking high priority over those of the rest of the minds in a network.

Step Seven: grab that guy who's doing monk shit and install into him improved learning ability, improved reaction times, incentive module, killswitch and improved coordination.

Step Eight: do a followup scan on my Assistants. How are they integrating? Any issues? Anything interesting? Have the lab techs submit them to a few rounds of testing. In essence, if there is still data to be gleaned from basic testing, go ahead and get some.

17 days until deadline.

You complete quantum brain production line upgrades, produce parts and build two new simulators because you got time with nothing to use it for. Granted, you could go for EMP hardening, but you are not entirely sure how much quantum computer would be affected by EMP pulse anymore.

Braincase!

Mere idea is turned into reality by your fuming brain and skilled hands. Lots of sugary energy drinks are sacrificed for sake of your higher brain functions. The braincase contains everything it needs keep brain alive and protected, even battery and nutrient packs and filters are contained within which makes doubly bigger than avarage human skull. Only the built in MMI can be used to open the case for replacing parts. Battery cannot be changed without auxiliary power being plugged in to ensure the thing is powered all the time.

Of course there's external mechanism opening it in emergency situations, but it requires some special effort to get through. Like ten minutes of dedicated work on timer. So not really that good for actual emergencies.

Regardless, job well done. Whose brain are you gonna stick into your prototype?

Ballin! Delve deeper into the monk shit, see if I can't find some guide to enlightenment that I can try speedrunning.

Sorry bud, those mantras are all you have. Everything else you find in internet are only scams. Or porn. Oṃ Amideva Hrīḥ. Oṃ Amideva Hrīḥ. OM TARE TUTTARE TURE SOHA! FUCK SO MUCH PORN!

Curious George shows some curiousity on what you are doing and sticks bunch of injections on you before dragging you on operation table and giving you suprise brain surgery. I hope you aren't too attached to your hair.

So, is OPERATION: HOMEGROWN done? The idea of it was to make the test beds. I suppose not necessarily?

Well I suppose it is done. Test bed is done and Well you declared secondary goal being understanding of TG-R readout which is not completely done by my notes.

Spoiler: Distracting OOC rant (click to show/hide)

OPERATION: HOMEGROWN
Well you have this one you discovered applied on both hivemind and TG modules (and the incentive module, almost forgot that one), otherwise you would be waiting weeks for each to grow. Of course you could always make it faster, though no particular way comes into mind.

OPERATION: WE HAVE WAYS
Let's see, what was the question again? TG-R communication medium? You are pretty damn sure you can't detect it with any mechanical way. The pattern acts like some sort extradimensional antenna or something. Very weird shit going on here. Not to say the coordinates it outputs to TG-T are any normal three dimensional ones.

OPERATION: ALL-SEEING EYE

Almost done with the master mind. Having one mind assert itself over others is not easy.

That wannabe monk is screaming buddhist mantras while watching eyes wide low quality representation of human reproduction process. One suprise surgery later he's appropriately imprinted on you. By the way, what is this improved coordination again? I have notes about its existance but I'm not exactly sure what it did. Poor naming on my part, perhaps.

Late Executive Producer's Assistants are doing well, thanks for asking. They feel little restricted here and would like to be released. Not from life, mind you, just from their forced servitude here. They could become top chef somewhere, one of them had such dreams, you know. Before she and the rest were kidnapped. You know? It was rude. Very rude. But there's nothing they can do about it, so they learn cooking and do what they are told to do. This kind of existance is new and exciting, you know. Do you know what one can do with multiple bodies? Things. One can do many things. If you could disable those cameras for night it would be great. No? Okay.

So in other words they are doing fine. Only thing to learn here is how to insert commands and suggestions into their transmissions, which you were in progress of doing when Terrible Glory broke your first lab.

Today, in addition to giving that guy an extra arm, I continue to closely monitor the combat bodies, and devote the rest of my time to my perception research.

It's probably faster to use donor bits because then you only have to heal connection points. And other stuff you have to break in order to graft the arm in. The subject you liberate from arm and extra bits falls in coma. Probably too much of shock. It is significant portion of his upper body anyway. Could use him some other test later on. You make minimal effort to ensure he won't die in few days before mutilating another subject.

This guy gets second left arm on his back, right below his shoulder blade. Ribs are broken and rearranged, skin removed, muscles moved around to make space for new ones, new bones attached, spine and lower part of skull cut open long enough to ensure new nerves and axons can grow in their place. Then finally he's tied up tightly to prevent him from moving accidentally before he's healed properly.

Magnetoreception is arhieved by using tiny magnetite particles inside specially built cells. One cell may be able to detect only orientation, but multiple cells distributed over larger areas can detect curves too, giving ability to measure distance and direction of magnetic source. Few of them placed around extremes of a body would give quite precise sense, assuming subject's brain can learn fast enough.

Your bad boys are growing big and bad, already weight of small human. Chimera, being lightest will be fully grown in few days. Although growing is entirely wrong word here, regenerating from nothing is more precise way to describe what's happening. They are all starting from internal organs, gastric tract and primary organs such as heart.

Hm. Write down some more gibberish numbers and burn them in effigy at the shrine. This warrants further testing.

Upload myself, and create a few copies. Make remote bodies as needed to keep up with my genius.
Upload supersoldier guy too so he can get used to this, give him a remote body to play with or whatever.

Commence EMP hardening research, starting with determining how vulnerable a quantum brain would be to EMP. In any case, the brain itself is unlikely to be the only electrical component in the final super soldier, making everything more rugged, in regards to EMP, is not a bad idea

If my super quantum brain-ness leaves any leftover researching, use it on modularity

How did assistants' testing of Meshanite go? Does it live up to the hype?

Queue new research:
Mind Editing: Move beyond merely copying the mind, study and understand it so memories and personalities can be modified, skillsets and languages downloaded, intelligence upgraded. Also stuff like activating battle-mode where unneeded parts of the brain are suspended to boost "bullet time" even higher. Take full advantage of the digital medium

Heat application: Find a use for all that heat from the nuclear reactor. Weaponization and power generation spring to mind but perhaps there are other ingenious potential uses as well.

Nuclear II: We can go further. More efficient, more compact. Perhaps transferring to fusion instead of fission. Maybe even include an off-switch this time

Myomers + Artificial Muscles: If the brain is fast, the body needs to be able keep up. Faster, stronger, tougher.

Advanced Sensors/Senses: Developing super sensors and wiring them into the Quantum brain, using mind editing to ensure they can handle the input effectively.

Particle Beam II: While already devastating, it could stand further refinement

ECM/ECCM Stay at the forefront of this never-ending war

Stealth Systems: Staying hidden. Will we even get this far?

Supermaterial Armouring: While we're writing a wish list. Perhaps using Meshanite as a basis develop an even stronger while still lightweight material.
