We're withdrawing from the South-Eastern front and moving on the Southern one, taking back Lamtenia (or at least holding it ransom or whatever) and what's our general campaign plan, Monarchic thoughts?

Campaign plan: scorched earth in the south, if it seems like they need to forage at all. Split up their forces, take them on small groups at a time.
If I am reading things correctly, the total enemy force we are facing numbers about 24k; 16k infantry, 4-6k cavalry and crossbows, and some unknown auxileries.
If all our vassals and allies come through, I reckon we might muster up 12k.
Optimistically, then, we are outnumbered 2 to 1. And if things go real bad for them and we somehow manage to go on the offensive, they can just call in reinforcements. No, our plan should be to survive for long enough that the moderati faction tire of the war; then they and the goldkeepers can out-vote the militari and sue for peace (probably involving the loss of most, if not all of our Chunug gains)

Fun thing means that extended campaigns will have supply lines, and that that may be a sizeable part of their legion. This means a very decisive first part of the campaign in frontal battles...so withdrawing our southern people up north (I think we have a ton of space o_O our population value is lower than our highest value so that'll be okay), and going for a scorched earth policy to stretch their lines which we harry with our son-commander. (Because camp followers and supply lines and all--I do believe it'll be different from Parsia if they plan an extended run)

I would LOVE for this to be like a young Alexander The Great kinda thing though. :3 The Protector of the Faith shall (hopefully) go on to PROTECT THE PEOPLE FROM DAMDAMIAN SPECIECISTS (or how ever you say that).

Come to think of it, we don't have a trait o_O We got depressed and kicked it off--hopefully we can gain one here.

What we should be aiming for is the annihilation of their units. Wipe them out hard enough and they won't be coming back ever. They think us as their gaul, let us prove that we are their germania!

That's...that's the plan. But not necessarily annihilation.

OR we get them in transit--like in a valley or something, then make a show of force, as I recall happened a lot in ancient times which affected morale, which didn't lead to people killing each other. As I recall the story was of a Roman force being trapped in a valley, and their opponents having cornered both points and the pass above, so the commander had a conundrum to tell his senior--who replied either with 'kill them all or spare them all'. The middleman choice was the worst however, but it went that way. But morale is very important here too.

891 AD, One week later

Your Armies have moved southwards while a messenger brought a report - the House of Lech is under attack! Half of the Damdamian forces are besieging the fortress, concentrating their siege engines and infantry there.

Another quarter of Damdamians is besieging the southern lands; the last part have marched westwards, towards recently devastated lands of Chunug.

The Luathbas Army have received the news too, and have marched forward to the House of Lech.

891 AD, One day after that

Terrible news come from Augas! The province is under attack; one and half unit of Damdamian Army must have marched around (or through) the orcish hills and has begun pressing towards the capital city of the province. The fortified outposts hold well, as they did many times previously, but the province is lacking trops.

Governor of Augas pleads, in a letter, that you send part of the Army to safeguard the eastern flank. With the Army gone to field, you have to conclude that...

A) Augas is not worth losing Luathbas over, and thus no help will be given to the governor.
B) If the flank collapses, we're done for! Time to send a quarter of our Army there to keep it safe!
C) Augas is a rich province and therefore the governor should forget about yearly revenues, spending them on mercenaries instead.

Money is no good if we're not alive to spend it. We can even go into debt, if necessary (perhaps the dwarves or one of our neighbours would be willing to lend us some money)
We need to pull out all the stops if we are to survive this war (let alone win it)

891 AD, One week before Mid-Autumn

The siege of House of Lech continues, althought casualties and damage to the fortifications are both heavy. The Army sent to relieve the siege instead got caught in a bloody slaughter with one quarter of Damdamian invasion force.

The battle was won and the Damdamians retreated south of the House, but in the fighting, sixteen Oliphaunts were lost to the crossbowmen and wicked Damdamian siege engines with shoot sharpened wooden logs capable of splitting a man in two, and also proved to be very good at gouging the Oliphaunts' eyes or pierce their thick skulls.

891 AD, Four days after Battle at Lech

The fighting against the Damdamians continues, while with trumpets and cheering, two thousand Tven longbowmen and same number of light cavalry passes through capital of Luathbas as the Duke's sister, Lady Envynn, leads them!

You have them all sent to the frontlines.

Not as such great news come from Augas; the mixed soldiers and mercenaries troops are faring badly against the experienced and clever foes that are Damdamians. The province continues to fight, though.

891 AD, Mid-Autumn

Victory! Two thousand Damdamians fell in a brilliant tactical performance by Luathbas Army, led by Ceodwell! While a third of that number also died on Luathbas side, a victory is a victory.

House of Lech continues to fight on and actually managed to grind down some of the Damdamian siegers. However, reports place the outer walls in terrible state and the main keep itself is in ruin. The soldiers there are fighting basically on a fortified pile of rubble.

A guard arrives in your throne room - bringing a letter full of anguish and horror.

"What does that mean!?" You toss the parchment on the floor.

"It means what it is written, my Queen. King Beren, your vassal, has renounced your rule and pledged loyalty to Damdamian Republic. I assume that's why a quarter of the Damdamian Army moved there - either to pressure him or to protect him." The advisor bows his head.

891 AD, The next day

The Spymaster confirms the worst; King Beren have willingly been scheming with Damdamians for past few months, and secured independence and future ownership of 'western Luathbas' in exchange for betraying you!

A heavily-breathing messenger runs into the throne room and kneels before you.

"Your Majesty! Report from Augas! The forces of the Governor are having terrible time against the Damdamians and several outposts fell into their hands, but there might be hope; approximately three thousand of Gubta skirmishers and swordsmen are marching through Khosra, reports say, to offer you military assistance."

A) "Excellent news! Inform the Governor that he is given full ability to use the Gubta troops for defense of Augas!"
B) "Wonderful! Tell the Governor to split the Gubta reinforcements and keep half of them at his side to boost the defences of the province.
C) "Splendid! Have the Governor make sure that Gubta won't be harassed, and can reinforce central Luathbas with their full numbers."
