You send a group of people old enough to had dealings with Hurthlings in the past to hopefully make it easier to reestablish contact with Hurthlings.

You fall terribly ill after spending one evening outside for a bit too long. Fever and terrible fits of coughing bring you pain and restlessness.
2
Your condition does not improve after a week, making your advisors and courtiers extremely worried about the continuation of Luathbas dynasty...

But as the days grow longer and warmer, you finally overcome the lung illness and are back on your feet.
Just in time to receive a report from the envoys sent to the Hurthlings. Apparently, the remaining Hurthlings got news of death that killed all their brothers and sisters in Luathbas thirty years ago, but somehow they got their facts wrong and blame your family on killing them with 'dark magics'. The envoys say that the Hurthlings weren't particularily hospitable even to them.
Two days later, you receive a visit from a delegation of dwarves, brought to the castle by the messenger you sent last year. The group of smelly, hairy creatures all wear black and purple cloaks, and the dwarf with blue beard steps forward and bows respectfully.
"Greetings, Luathbas King. We heard it that you are in the need of our service, and so we come to offer them. But we were told that it is not artifacts you seek, but its our earthwork that interests you. May I express the joy of our Guildmasters, who were simply thrilled that we got a chance to show our ways with dirt and stone, as normally everyone just wishes for us to provide them with trinkets and baubles. The messenger told us that it is aquifer in profitable mines that you have problem with? It is truly a terrible thing, especially if the aquifers go two z-levels or deeper."
There's a confused silence amongst your courtiers.
"Well, let's just say that we know how to strengthen the earth and weaken the bonds of water in the soil. Of course, we will require payment, and I'm sure you know how much our kind demands for its masterful services."
A) Promise them that they will have the money the moment they succeed in their task.
B) Tell them that you can't pay them this time, and have to dismiss them.
C) Ask if they would want something else as a form of payment.
D) Ask about postponement of the payment for, say, 40 years maybe?
