I'm talking about them.
But my first and third sentence is about us. So there's the tiny shift in PoV or first/second person pronouns.
* Tiruin just flops on herself. :/
sorry.

Also people should take care when to assume, and when to assume TOO MUCH. Considering the make-up of enemy forces ranging from roman-esque troops to crossbowmen, it is VALID to assume that the crenellations and towers are damaged. Although I'm assuming that -- because assuming it's a ruse has to mean the enemy is two steps ahead of us.
On our bloody home soil.

How many armies does this woman have? Hopefully mother will have sent reinforcements like in our last campaign.

It'll be difficult, but we need to destroy one of these armies before they link up and out number us. A looks more like light damage then total destruction, so I'm gonna go with B

A Even if we wont have that much time, I'd imagine we could do a fair bit of damage before we have to retreat.

B if they choose to try and pincer us, at least force them to abandon the fortress siege.

B, still finding camp army strange second one wont have as many suprises.
You guys say it's strange without giving any details >_>
That could be bias working here...but detailing the situation--one would incidentally siege an IMPORTANT LOCATION, the camp is generally an advanced force set to make a perimeter around the area to cut off any external supply and let the defenders rely only on their internal storage and ammunition to survive. This holds for a fortress, which does not have its own self-sustaining food supply or whatever.
Then the siege forces come in, which is a follow-up towards taking and striking deep in 'enemy' territory. An attacking army which is bigger than a defender can suitably just WAIT IT OUT with time being the only resource being spent. They don't have time. WE took the initiative by taking "A". We chose to scout for information then.
And if there are any UNHOLY SURPRISES UP THE SLEEVE, we'd in the least be VAGUELY aware of it, which takes in a critical check of what's being said and not assuming too much that IT MAY BE A TRAP unless there are previous details which can reasonably and reliably lead to that idea.

But seriously if they took the darn fortress and are 'waiting for us' or whatever to make a pincer attack, deep in OUR TERRITORY, then really strange stuff is happening. :v

You order your commanders to evade the camps and march straight against the incoming siege force!

They meet head on in an open area between two parts of the local forest.

As it's hard to deploy and communicate amongst the trees, both sides have trouble deploying, and the melee starts too soon! The heavy infantry clashes hard with your men, and in terms of numbers, your side suffers more casualties.

A while later, while the chaotic melee continues, a scout brings news; part of the camping enemies mounted horses and are now rushing against your rear! The force is small, but even such a small force can do lots of damage with such a pincer attack.

A) "Have our cavalry charge and meet with them."
B) "Ask the Hurthlings to ambush them."
C) "Order our spearmen reserves to block them."

Spears beat horses so C

Keeping the reserves would have been nice, but we have to give up something. Calvary woupd have been a mirror match and small ranged persons are exactly what calvarly like to stomp on.
