You decline the offer to join the alliance but also mention that some of your men might be willing to play 'mercenaries'. After some hushed debate, the dignitaries agree to take few hundred men with them.

Apparently your men are some sorts of army-wrecking band of heroes because the tales of their wartime exploits and the absurd string of victories reach the ears of your court and your population very soon. Either everyone takes great joy of your kingdom's suffering or there was terrible harvest everywhere, because the price for the grain you need to procure is astronomically high and terribly drains the Royal Treasury. Not to mention that amount of food procured is rather small and the deliveries are infrequent; the people are fed, but some succumb to the starvation before that happens.

802 AD, Autumn

A young man, prospector by trade, arrives at the court and during the audience with you he offers to mine certain gold deposits in the Duaz hills for the Luathbas' Crown. He just asks for some monetary dispensation so that he can procure necessary supplies, equipment and pay for miners' wages.

A) Pay him a certain amount to provide for the supplies he needs
B) Turn him down as the Treasury cannot pay for his expenses
C) Ask him to regale you with the descriptions of the rocks and other minerals that can be found in Duaz hills
