There was another attempt by the Parsians to retake the province, but your Army managed to defeat the enemy forces.

807 AD, Autumn

The yearly caravan of revenues from Augas have arrived at the court, filling the Treasury with lovely clinking coinage.

807 AD, Mid-Autumn

After the harvest, this very heated year is drawing to a close. The crops provided much sustenance, and the population will surely increase next year.

Some city mayors believe that it would be a good thing to thank the gods of harvest for this boon with a grandiose Festival, although the trade advisor believes that our economy isn't in good enough shape to host such lavish things. On other hand, the representantives of the priestly caste want to note that you have angered the gods of harvest, fertility and such already in the past, and a thanksgiving festival is basically required this year.

A) Party time!
B) No money, no festivals.

The grandiose festival costs a bit, and not everyone had his or her fill of meal and mead, and the priests grumbled that sacrifices could be a little bit more lavish, but overall, it was a good festival that lifted everyone's spirits.

807 AD, Winter

A dignitary from a small kingdom in the west arrives at the court. He has heard of your Kingdom's provisions of mercenaries in the past, and is willing to buy the services of your Army. As his nation's revenues are small, his King offers to pay for the mercenaries in next three years, with deliveries of payment coming after the last of snow disappears from the fields.

The Army marshal would rather not part with his men, especially with the province of Augas being a hot-bed for skirmishes. The trade advisor of course would welcome even more money into the Crown's coffers.

A) So be it! We shall lend them our trusted soldiers as mercenaries.
B) Naw, I ain't got enough soldiers to send them everywhere they're needed.

Nothing really changed this year, thanks to skillful administration (and a bit of luck).

808 AD, Spring

An elderly engineer and his apprentices, fearing persecution from 'the paranoid, mad and bloodthirsty Kiwi King', arrive at the court, asking for sanctuary. He is willing to repay for your kindness with his skills, boosting the defense of Capital with his devices and inventions. If he would to receive enough money and supplies, however, he could spend next five years upgrading the fortifications somewhere else in Luathbas.

A) Accept him and let him boost the capital's defense.
B) Accept him, and then send him along with supplies and money to improve the defenses at the border with Lametania in the south.
C) Accept him, and then send him along with supplies and money to improve the defenses in the volatile Augas Province in the east.
D) Tell him to seek shelter somewhere else.

The censuses are completed; the population of Luathbas did increase, as predicted.

An exhausted messenger brings news from Augas!

Luathbas forces suffered numerous defeats in the open field and lost two minor fortresses close to Parsian mainlands! The Army commanders stationed there request new recruits to be sent immediatelly!

A) Draft some peasants and have them sent eastwards!
B) Hire more mercenaries and adventurers to bolster Army ranks in Augas!
C) Oh, they will be just fine, we're sure of that!
