Terrible droughts intermixed with short bursts of heavy storms and hail mark the weather patterns of this summer. The crops are ruined and the farmers already bemoan the shortages of food that will be evident in the coming months. People across the country ask the Crown to do something about it.

A) Pep them up with nice words of encouragement about the upcoming fasting period.
B) Send forth envoys to procure foodstuffs from abroad so your people don't have to suffer.

Unfortunately, the amounts procured were rather small, as your neighbours themselves had little to offer. People will have to suffer this year, and that's bad.

886 AD, Late Summer

A band of Chunug horsemen brought the head of your emissary to one of the governors of the south-eastern cities, decrying publicly your lies and attempts at confusion. They say that their leaders have decided to punish you!

Next day you receive an urgent report that about five thousand Chunug, wielding axes and swords, rushed on their short horses into Luathbas, spilling over the land, torching and killing as they go!

Emergency council is convened and everyone looks up to you to see what you shall do about this.

A) Declare emergency mobilization and send the Army to battle the Chunug.
B) Send a peace envoy and apologies (and a tribute) to the Chunug in hopes of averting further conflict.
C) Tell the Army to vanquish the Chunug, but without emergency draftees this time.

Anyway. I would really like to issue a draft, but we just let people go back home. Our army is seasoned at fighting the horsemen, and should be large enough to deal with it.
Hopefully we crush them, allowing us to chase them all the way back to their stolen lands, which we can then liberate (as per our agreement with the Damdamians)
...actually, crushing them would be so good that maybe we should issue that draft. Aw jeez.

The fresh and veteran soldiers of Luathbas combine their strength and experience, march and meet the Chunug in a week, dealing a blow to the invading horde! There are five thousand casualties total but the remaining Chunug flee back to their home territory, somewhat startled.

There was a court meeting after the victory.

"We have a pretext to strike and conquer their territory." Says one nobleman.

"With what, an army that lost another chunk of it just days ago?" Counters another.

"Besides, we can't really trust the Damdamians promise from before." Others nod and mumble.

But decision is yours to make! And you decide to...

A) Keep the Army within Luathbas borders.
B) Send it to conquer the lands of Chunug!
