I think it's the difference depression and hope: in the first option you'll get a loveless marriage, associated with court intrigue, backstabbing, the probable murder of our first-born, and a succession war; in the third we develop good affective bonds, she accepts our son as her own, and the kingdom avoids all the aforementioned problems.
