IVs have half their value's impact compared to base stats. So a pokemon with a base attack of 60 and a 31 attack IV will effectively have a base stat of around 75. Add a maxed EV (252/4, or +63, but really only about +31 since base stats have double impact) onto that and it's effectively a base stat of 106. Add a beneficial nature, and it's like a base stat of 116. Suddenly your unevolved level 50 cubbug is kicking the crap out of legendaries.

I certainly wouldn't bother with it if they didn't give the 6IV mystery gift and destiny knot (and most importantly make the stats transparent, unlike the official games). It makes it quite easy to get a 5IV pokemon, which for most is as good as 6IV if the pokemon only uses one type of move (physical/special) for damage. One lazy sunday of watching twitch streams while cycling around and picking up eggs was enough to get what I wanted, except the genderless one, which would take much more work.

Hooray, I caught a Buizel!

Just really lucked into it, I was headed back to check on berries I'd planted yesterday when I triggered a random encounter. 1% chance is pretty cruel, dudes. I'll bet some folks spent a hell of a long time trying to find one.

indeed, lotad is the second rare in that route and even with its 5% chance its really easy to find....buizel is just straight up unfair...

Considering you can fish for Lotad at 30%, I'd consider it a less difficult catch than Buizel. You only encounter Buizel on this one route too, so no higher catch rate like Mankey on Route 2 vs. Route 3. It and Flaaffy on Route 8 are both 1% catches and unobtainable at any other locations, so it's a pretty good chance you'll be hunting for awhile if you're looking to fill out your Pokedex.

Alternatively, you can try to trade for it. If one of you guys have Buizel and another has a Flaafy, may as well make dem eggs and trade.

Are you guys playing the same game? I found and caught Buizel and Flaffy without even trying >_<

But then you don't have the satisfaction of catching them all yourself!

But yeah, it's pretty much a given that you're gonna likely go trade for one from somebody lucky enough to fluke the catch. I might go breed my Buizel and throw some duplicates up for trade for Flaaffy as soon as I reach the daycare on Route 9. Considering I'm only up to Route 5, it's gonna be awhile.

Honestly, I'm simply going by the catch rate listed on the wiki, so YMMV. Said numbers could be completely wrong.

also whats the point of flaafy if you can just catch mareep and evolve it, if you want to collect them on boxes it works too.

dont see the use in spending pokeballs for evolved forms unless they are from events like Terlard or Nuclear Trawpint/Gyarados

Welp, I traded a duplicate of my Buizel I ran into for a lvl 1 Pufluff, and managed to pick up a Raptorch by Wonder Trade too. It'll make breeding go faster since its Flame Body ability doubles hatching speed. Just need to find a female Duplicat to start making my own eggs!

Edit: Just traded a duplicate Jerbolta for a Volchik too! Once I breed it, it'll be a useful addition due to the types it covers, and it's got a pretty decent move-set too.

Wiki is showing me 24.8% catch rate for Buizel, 15.7% for Flaafy. And that's the chance to catch with an ordinary pokeball at full health. Using a better ball on a weakened pokemon should make them very easy catches.

I was referring to the encounter rate, not the catch rate. The wiki lists a 1% chance to encounter Buizel on Route 3. Still, I managed to encounter two of them without trying, so I guess it isn't actually that rate.

It took me an hour and a half of grinding to find a Buizel 0_o  I'm thinking Folly just got lucky.

In other news, does anyone know what's happened to the website? Seems to be down, and I can find no information as to why.

Many monsters are dramatically more or less likely to appear at day or night. If I don't find something after 5-10 encounters, I usually come back the next evening/morning.
