Just found out, from the main menu you can claim a Jerbolta with perfect IV's, and a held item to pass 5 of your 6 IV's when breeding. You can savescum until you get a male, allowing you to breed it with other species to create babies with near-perfect stats.
It's kinda like cheating...but these games can be a nightmare for min-maxers who aren't willing to take some shortcuts.

Jerbolta with perfect IV's

And it's shiny (or maybe I got lucky?).

And it counts as a trade, so it will start disobeying if it outlevels your badges.

nope, the mistery gift Jerbolta will always be shiny and will have perfect IVs

and yeah, since it counts as a trade, you may want to limit its leveling during the adventure. fortunately the trainer control tiers level evenly with each badge so its like 10 lvls per badge or something. but still, you want to keep "sonic" controlled.

as an advice for all.

if you havent reached the 7th gym.

level your team. no joke here, its hard, most of the gyms in the mainland outside of the steel type one are a piece of cake. but not only was a pita to get to Snowbank Town. the gym trials and encounters will be almost on par with a victory road parade in the official games.

of course the reward is worth, since its much more than just a badge.

but yeah, try to have a variated and even lvl team. 50+ is the minimum. too much ice and too much dragons...

oh and dont forget to visit the lab in Silverport Town. it has a nice reward.

Just spent ten pokeballs and one great ball trying to catch one fucking gligar and ended up making it faint anyway. That was a great use of money.

gligar and sableye have some of the most bullsh*t catchrates in the game. get used to stock on high level pokeballs for any case.

and gosh the 8th gym is a nightmare to pass.

5 of my 6 pokemon are on lvl 55 and i cant even scratch the first picks. decided to lvl my volchik, but it turns out it has to reach lvl 42 in order to be usefull for this.

this is not fair...

i decided to just leave her in the daycare and start looking at hidden objects all around the region. its not like i can do much right now. this would be less painful if i had a vs seeker...the rematchable trainers arent enough

Thought I'd try it out. When I was a kid I had Gold and Emerald, and so far it looks and feels a lot like Hoenn, which is great. I also like the idea of a game maintained to this extent by a community team, and the online support is also interesting.

But a few negatives noticed after a bit of playing (3 gyms worth):

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

It looks like a small dev team, but I hope the project succeeds and gets support going forward.

there are at least 200 species listed. but only 8 are missing (the digital twins, the kings of the seas, a small and cute legendary and the two gods). this counting the species that come from the official games.

having  the National Dex would be a good endgame feature to have. but i guess that since the development team is so small, it would be hard to implement and have ALL the national dex up to date. (and dont get me started on Megas or possible Nuclear infected versions)

and, yeah, Titanice feels kind of off for the most part. i think they should have just added a pure ice type from the main series like Cryogonal, since it doesnt have a evolution, or they could have put Snorunt, but it would have required to add 2 extra slots in the dex(Glalie and Froslass).

but anyways.

as for me. i just decided to start all over again, i was bored of the grind. so i'll just stick to a defined team and try not to change much. right now have Raptorch, Felunge and Dunsparce with Barewl as rock smash slave. my current dilema is between Cometeor and S51, because it effects which water type should get, which is between Glavinug and Daikatuna..im gonna get a Whimsicott and a Harylect for grass and electric choices.

Anyone who picked the water/electric starter, have you run into any problems? I already know that you can't complete the game with it without an update (either waiting for an official update or using the unofficial one). We're not to the end yet, however, and my wife gets many more stack traces (five at current count) than I do (0, though I picked orchynx). These started just before the third gym, where one of the black belts on the left side of the beach would crash if he saw her.

I haven't actually tried the fan patch yet. Maybe that solves it.

in the end decided to go with Comite instead of waiting for an S51. i like the solrock/lunatone looks of it.

my team right now is Comite, Raptorch, Felunge, Dunsparce and Harylect. have just reached the beach so it becomes a grind for getting into shape before the third gym.

then i should either capture a Glaslug or a Frinay. either of them requires a water stone for their final evo. so im not very sure on which to get. Daikatuna seems the more likely, since its steel typing help to resist against Nuclear.

that leaves me still with the lack of a grass type. Whimsicott should fill it nicely, but it would be situational since its useless for the 7th gym.

PSA: If you try to overwrite an HM move with a new move, a different attack will be replaced instead.

I accidentally overwrote a few moves I wanted by doing this >_<

I had the same problem. I think nothing happens and it moves your selection, so if you press enter again it causes you to overwrite the other move.

had to grind some lvl with raptorch in order to make it usefull against the 4th gym. Archilles was the only one capable of fighting against Tracton, but only because i teached him Dig.

also, Cottonee is horribly useless. the Frynai i caught after that had been much more usefull than that thing, and it hasnt even evolved.

i'll try to get it on line with the team ASAP, since i'll need the ninja fish for the 5th gym. also, will have to grind some lvls for the fight against the Seikamater...

If you look at Whimsicott's base stats, they are actually awful...

In-game, the best use for Cottonee is to prankster charm and stun spore to cripple higher-level opponents and then switch out, in my opinion. It should be used to make tough opponents easier due to guaranteed moving first, but otherwise is very difficult to rely on as a coverage pokemon.

I found that lotad and its evolutions shred many of the early gym leaders (could deal with them solo while underleveled even) and is a generally useful type combination, though it drops off in usefulness towards the last few gyms.

Right now I'm going though a breeding spree (something mindless to do while watching i58). So far I have ideal IVs and nature on a feleng, eevee, and dunsparce, and am starting on a minyan to bridge the starting mystery gift with swabone and selkid. After that, I'll want to grind duplicats for a nupin, but I'm not sure how far I'll go on that one.

Hopefully the trading system will be functional again at some point. It'd save a lot of time, and it'd be nice to share these boxes full of slightly imperfect pokemon. I'm not sure that'll happen though, I think the developer could very well be over their head. Maybe some community assistance will help with rebuilding a more robust online system.

I've decided to try this thing!

Beat one gym so far, just entered Route 3. Doing a normal run before I decide if I want to invest the time into a Nuzlocke run afterwards, but so far I'm liking what I see. I went with the green kitty for the starter, and so far I've mostly been using it along with my Mankey and newly levelled Kinetmunk to take out threats. I grabbed a Dunsparce for a Rock Smash slave, and have a Barewl and Owten that will probably be retired in favour of a water type such as a Brailip at Route 4.

I don't know much about EV training or breeding to be honest. It sounds like a huge investment of time for so little return. Then again, I don't really go in for online competitive play.
