It seems all three DL links are broken.

It was quite brutal actually. Who knew you could suffer major head trauma from undergarments?

the difficilty is dope here. just reached the 4th town and i've lost at least 2 times.

got me some more pokemon, have like 17 species registered so far. the professor gave me some pokeballs and a rare candy as a reward. it seems you receive stuff from him when reaching certain milestones.

the detail on each location is nice too. the route 3 goes by the coast and has some tropical trees. found a bug with fire type damage, buizel, lotad, a normal type cat and the rest was stuff i've seen in the other first routes.

the second gym seems to be way harder than the first one two.

the first gym was normal based, but it was harder to do due to the two normal/flying pokemon that appear at the start. the leader also had a second stage normal (which its first form evolves in lvl 19, this one was lvl 12-14, i cant remember)

the second gym seems to be based arounde cavern pokemon. its not based around a single type but several of the pokemon i met in the small tunnel at the start. so i expect to see steel/ground, pure ground, water type (i dont know why) and poison/flying.

i really need to train, my pokemon have just reached lvl 13-14. the grind is real.

and its not like you can just steamroll everything with the starter. this requires serious strategy.

3rd gym is a headache, seriously, you'll probably want at least one lvl 30, preferably more.  The theme is 'beach' pokemon there.

hmmm i had to force restart my PC and forgot i had the game running. save was corrupted. had to start all over again.

went with the grass starter this time. have just captured the first pokemons on route 01. this is horrible. but it doesnt matter, im used to go with the grass starter anyways.

I find it funny that the theme of a LOT of pokemon fangames, well ones that care about difficulty, is just outright throwing out the type gyms in one way or another.

I guess Omicron and Zeta didn't do it... but Insurgence sure did.

well it makes much sense. in the official games the most challenge you can get is a pokemon some levels above yours or which has a dual type with advantage against your team.

having a themed team means that at least for the first run, you're not sure what types are gonna go against you. it makes you rethink your strategy, specially if you're one of those "i'll just level up the starter" people. i bet my brother would get his ass handed if he played this. he tends to do that.

i dont mind it since i like to even lvl my pokemon, so not much deal, the problem is the grind and that missing type that may come handy against the gym leader picks.

that's something you wouldnt see in the official games. its kinda like an elite 4 matchup. like Bruno in the Kanto versions. he has a mix of earth, rock and fighting for example.

EDIT:

goddamn crashes, i have to start all over again...... this is annoying. lets see if updating the game helps.

I gotta say, for a game they worked on 9 years, there are a lot of basic quality-of-life issues.

The screen is jerky when moving around, and there are tedious pauses every time I enter or leave a building. There's an option to skip combat animations, but there's still a lot of other unnecessary animations during combat that cannot be turned off. With text set to the fastest speed in options, it's still very slow. And whose brilliant idea was it to make the xp bar fill with white over light grey, which also had a rough gradient?

I'm going to keep playing a bit more, but they make it really difficult to like this game.

the difficilty is dope here.

Not challenge mode? Just started limited-healcenter Nuzlocke run and heading toward first gym, which in retrospect may not be the best way to enjoy the first playthrough!  :P

Having grass starter helps a lot though. No crit ability is godsend.

The game has just released but yeah, it will need some further updates and polish..

I dont mind the small stuff like that. My main concern are crashes.

I've had an urge to play the new Pokemon games lately. I'm not going to purchase an entirely new system to enable me to do so, however, so this is very relevant to my interests.

Maybe I'm doing it wrong but surely the first cave isn't intended to be a pain in the ass? My process thus far is Leech Seed the local Barewl and then trade tackles until it faints as I don't have any water, ground, or fighting moves yet.

Hey can anyone upload the installer? They apparently took down the official links to avoid trouble.

I finally found some good instructions about how to install this under Linux: http://www.pokemonuranium.com/forum/archive/index.php?thread-251.html

The animation is painfully inconsistent and clunky for me so I don't know if I'll ever actually play this, but it might work better on someone else's machine.
