As you all make your way to school, the general weirdness of this Brain Burst program lingers at the back of your mind. For those who got the program from Yukihira, questions pop into your mind, as you try to figure out why she bothered giving you the program, or indeed what the program even is. Especially for some of you, its inability to be activated through conventional methods makes it a bit more suspect. Indeed, this thought continues occurring to you as you walk into the school gates-
The words 'Here Comes a New Challenger', in the same font as Brain Burst's logo, flashes across the screen.
-and everything stops.
For a moment, you see everything tinged in a shade of blue, with people stopping midwalk and trees in midsway. You, yourself, cannot move, but that state doesn’t last long, as you see the blueness be gradually replaced by a faint, orange glow…..
Territory: <Disputed Territory> Shibuya Ward
Stage: Kazuraba High
Mode: Limited Acceleration Field
Before your eyes, Kazuraba’s fences and structures are eaten away, replaced with a ruined replica, with many of the windows and parts of the roof gone, scattered across the dusty, grassless ground. The walls look as if they were torn apart by some mighty force, with barely any of it left standing, and the gates of Kazuraba are nowhere to be seen, save for the top half of one embedded into the ground as a makeshift barricade, judging by the bullet holes in it.
All around you, you see nothing of the city you woke up to save ruins, with skyscrapers full of blown out windows and sandblasted exteriors in the distance, along with corroded construction cranes and abandoned cars. Mounds of dust and sand have built up around along the buildings facing the school, reaching up two floors and seeping into the buildings themselves, and a faint wind blows through the apocalyptic landscape, bringing with it the scent of smoke and metal
As you look down at yourself, confused by what just happened, you realise you are no longer in your body- or, if not, your body is now armored. Whatever the case, as you look around yourself, you see weapons, attachments and armor equipped on you completely out of nowhere; some of you even have new limbs or attachments to your bodies, or completely different body compositions. This is sorely reminiscent of some sort of futuristic sci-fi game, but for some reason it feels far more real than your average VR game, as you test your bodies and 'feel' everything; the texture of your bodies, the graininess of the sand and the harshness of the wind.
In the distance, you can hear the sounds of advancing armored feet.
