How's general or most common views about connection between gods and magic?

>Gods vary by region and culture. The only god worshiped universally is Humility, the Sky god, but the others are worshipped in places close to temples (on the map, if a place doesn't end in 'berg' it is most likely controlled by a local noble, who always has a chaplain appointed who is loyal to one of the Gods). Most commoners don't know any of the other Elementals, Nobles will know their names and elements:
Humility, god of the sky and thunder (Element: Air)
Purity, god of glass and gemstones (Element: Fire)
Mercy, god of the cycle of life and death (Element: Water)
Grace, god of music and speech (Element: Life)
Fortitude, god of animals and the forest (Element: Earth)
Patience, god of mountains, rivers, and deserts (Element: Time)
Bravery, god of uncertainty and forethought (Element: Shadow)
The actual details of what the gods are like, how they interact with the world, and their relation to magic are only really known to chaplains, monks and ascetic types. The common knowledge is that they first gave magic to mankind (referring to all the races of man, including demihumans), but now that mankind is capable of magic, direct communion with them isn't
needed, per say.
The commoner doesn't particularly devote himself to religious matters, so long as the city chaplain does his job and holds memorials, offerings, and so on every week.
Name: Kyron Theremis
Description: Kyron, an 18-year-old scribe/artist from practically Folstag itself, is a complete opposite of the stereotypes of his profession, garrulous and outgoing most of the time, even as he simultaneously makes painstaking detail work on an illuminated manuscript he was commissioned to illustrate. His hair is a fiery silver (yes that word choice was intentional), but cropped close to his scalp. He wears a frame for magnifying lenses at all times.
Outfit: Kyron's outfit focuses on pragmatism more than fashion, containing pockets and packets and handy folds aplenty in an already ink- and paint-stained brown. He overprepares, always carrying that one thing you'd never think you need, but always end up needing at the most unexpected times, and carries a set of magnifying and farseeing lenses, in addition to paper, a basic pen, and ink, at all times.
His lenses and inkpot are stored in a stasis case, which holds them safe from sudden trauma, and his paints are stored in a serious chest in his room.
Bio: Kyron Theremis was born to a minor noble of Folstag's (married) daughter, who has just enough money to support Kyron while he studies in Folstag. At least, that's the story. There are persistent rumors that he is more or less than he seems to be, and his choice of profession prior to his discovery of his magic drew eyebrows from anyone who cared. The magic drew perhaps more eyebrows, but Kyron, in what one might call an archive binge of his family's lineage, traced the magic back to a long-distant ancestor of some renown. This, of course, still hasn't stopped the rumors that he is seen inking a false skin at the second full moon, or that he simply materialized one day, that still remain undebunked by the family's patriarch. Kyron was rather a miraculous occurrence for his parents, that is certain, and would anyone ever ask him about these rumors, his answer is simply a mysterious smile and a dismissive shake of the head.
Major/Minor: Majoring in Time, but is angling for an independent study minor, or even a double major, in Metamagic/Magic Itself.

A Minor isn't necessary. There's no metamagic major, so you'd have to get in touch with a professor or resident magus.
