She decides to seek out something weaker, yet still the kind of prey her mother intended, something to help her adapt and thrive. She just so happened to sense something below her in the broiling abyss... Something... Just.  Right.

...distress.

She came upon some sort of(premium,unfortunate) ancient creature(s2,v1) turtle like with six fins. It had lived far longer than most of its kind. She sensed a loneliness... Perhaps the last one. She targeted three advantages, but she could only choose one:

Dauntless: Grow a hardened core. Fatal blows have a 33% to leave you with 1 vitality. Warning... Unknown penalty.

Swimmer: Grow fins to improve underwater mobility. +1 agility underwater.

Magma Armor: Grow a glass like shell that deflects heat.  +3 heat tolerance. -10% vitality.

Abilities:

Sensing: Why, hello there. Can use a number of words equal to your current vitality to describe the next target environment or prey. Think of this as minor god moding.. you DO sense these things,  but the quality and accuracy is random.

Siphon: Know thy enemy. Add target's characteristics to your pool of options for molting. Target's combined size and vitality must be no more than twice your combined total. Can restore vitality up to double your size.

Scream: Loud noises! +2 agility this turn if combined with Siphon. Can't be used next turn.

Traits:

Durable:
Is that all you got? Physical blows ignored from creaters with combined vitality and size below your vitality. Removed: Can survive in the vacuum of space.

Cold Intolerant: Hold the ice. Your body can not tolerate the cold well in any forceful capacity. You also have an intolerance for assimilating related capabilities. -3
Some abilities will give less benefit in snowy and icy enviroments.

I'm having a lot of fun with this and I realize it's going to likely continue down that path. I've decided to remove ties with Metroid... What this means is very little game play wise as I was not really going to use elements from that universe other than your starting form and really a floating jellyfish is general enough to not need to rely on that IP. And what I have already done with it already moved it a step away as the original Metroid did not suck away DNA.

Why do this? I do this because this allows me to be an authority on the content. I can actually take the posts I write and do something with them. So I will.

Xenobrood: A documentary
I have no reason not to do this even if it doesn't sell more than a couple copies to my family, I want to offer this up. This is what I'm going to do I'm going to take the posts from this game and once this game wrapped up I'm going to make cool drawings for the updates and released it as an online downloadable ebook for a couple bucks. No I'm not charging anything here and anyway this is of course a totally free game.

If you have any ideas, comments, or concerns I'd love to hear them. I will continue with the game entirely as planned.

She was born just in time, her egg shell was quickly crushed by lumbering giant, who's thunderous ambulation was only challenged by the grey fierce rolling thunder clouds above. Rain drizzled over her soft round white figure. Pure blackness was challenged by the massive crushing sounds of this beast and flashes of lighting in the skies. This soon would pass, for the weather on this planet was caotic, and never settled on one track for very long.

What I'm going to do since there seems to be a lot of interest and the story itself does call on a lot of these creatures, but I can only manage so much myself, I'm going to run it as an "emergent tournament". What that means is right now it's Joe verse Abe. Then maybe we can do more once that all goes well.
