As a active duty member of the US Air Force, and a certified law enforcement officer thereof, I am qualified to speak on gun safety (Well, not as much as the guys at CATM, but I carry one every day so they beat this shit into our heads). Sasha is an idiot, but she's also a high schooler.
Assuming she had a barretta like we have, there wasn't much chance of it going off in her pants, unless she was fingering the trigger (SERIOUSLY DON'T DO THAT. NEVER.
DON'T FUCKING TOUCH THE TRIGGER UNLESS YOU ARE GOING TO
PULL IT RIGHT THEN AND THERE.). There's a lot of safety things that physically prevent the gun from firing unless the trigger is pulled; that said, Keeping it loaded and on fire without being a trained law enforcement officer with
a proper holster is dangerous. And she wasn't particularly safe with how she behaved with the gun on night 1 either, which suggests to me that Sasha (or at least AbstractTraitor) hasn't been trained properly with the gun.
If it was in its case, yes, the gun should have been unloaded (not that the murderer would have had any difficulty figuring out how to load a pistol beyond getting the first round in the chamber) and on safe. Since it was on Sasha's person in an (illegal as fuck, given space law, Hope's Peak School Rules, and possibly even Russian law) concealed carry, it's understandable that it was loaded. It shouldn't have been on fire; and there was a round in the chamber too, though that wasn't exactly Sasha's fault.
In other words, everything went as expected.
Since I never specified what sort of gun it is, I'll go with the barretta, which means it's logical that an untrained 16-18 year old girl didn't blow out her kneecap. It doesn't much matter anyway.
It [the gun] shouldn't even be loaded if you don't intend on using it.
Who said she wasn't?
Remember, everyone's a suspect until the trial.
