I share the soup and try to look cool. I'll also say the following.

You don't see any kittens. Nor any stuffed animals, balloons, or cotton candy. Maybe you could take one of these children and give that to her instead? I bet at least one of them is an orphan, or will be soon.

Hell yeah, get in on some of that warm soupy action. Two bowls. Gonna see if their broth-rendering skills are up-to-snuff.

You grab a couple bowls of soup. A soldier makes to stop you, but freezes when you point three forks at him. You eye him through your helmet thingum as you casually bring the bowl up to your orifice. -sssslllluuuuuuurrrrrrrpppp- Overall, not bad. A tad bland, but it has a decent amount of meat and vegetables in it , and the broth is just thick enough. Much better than the fare at the base.

Return to the group's area, but don't directly join them.  Stay out of sight and manuever to a good position to ambush the Baron if things turn violent.  Alternatively, if someone decides to leave on their own, follow them stealthily.

You arrive back at the group and take up a position behind and to the side of the soldiers. Some kid comes over and tries to pet you. it's very distracting.

"What of it? Captain didn't say nuffin about some random lot coming to see noone."

Dessmo suggests through text that you demand to speak to this captain, and to tell them to quit wasting your time.

The soldiers step back from you as you start talking and look nervously at the soup. Dessmo speaks, low and casually "Samuel, show them their fate.  fate we can prevent, if they let us.

Noir bites her lip and nods after a few moments.

Dessmo gestures for you to come over to speak with him.

He gestures you to lean down close. Maybe he's trying to catch a sight of some cleavage. Who knows?

Dar'yajira shies away from the kid before it can reach him, and hisses if the kid pursues.  Standard skittish cat behavior.  Maybe he'll give it a light scratch if it's particularly persistent.
