My friend had fortress in old ver named "Netplay". How in the gods name DF got words net and play?

My Fortress is "Burn the Unspeakable Obscene Proliferation of Skin".  It's probably going to burn to death in a magma flood.  I also have "Emptybelly the Ominous Blighted Fear of Hunger" who undoubtedly will be killed by skeletal carp and skeletal giant eagles befor ethy have a chance to starve.

Could be worse.  It could have been the eternal Party Fortress:

Stinkyspews the Putrid Spurting Anus-Goo of Lust.

How you make custom names or that long names? I usually get 1 or 2 word fortress names.

On the screen where you select your dwarves and equipment, you press shift+f

Then you select your fortress name using that menu. Play around with it a bit, it shouldn't take too long to figure out (don't forget you can also pick the words using the "e" instead of scrolling through the endless lists)

"The Temple of Time" was a fortress name, run by
"Timekeeper".  Unfortunately, Keepers was not available :/

I had a fortress called "The Dark Tower" and the group name was "The Red King", a tribute to the Steven King series. I also had many of my dwarves named after characters in the series and even a 10 floor dark tower made of dark stone.

My current fortress has been randomly named Knifemerchants. The group name? The Ivory Knives. Is there any way to make the random generator make long names? All the randomizer comes up with is 2 word names for fortresses, sadly.

Net as in a mesh of rope you hunt or fish with. Play as in to frolic, or to get on a stage and act.

I named my "test fortress" that.  Seemed appropriate at the time.

I once tried modding goblins in, and didn't think to set a custom name for the fort when I tested it out.  "Daggerincest".

Sounds painful.
