All of them dead? O.O

Well, the main point still remains; There's not a large window of opportunity to get a heir from her.

Wife: Odd, a beautiful diplomatic wife who can use magic and bear children?  Hell yeah.

Diplomacy: Thorfinn, Asa Anhar seems far too domineering to be someone we can use to play nice with other people.

PTW

I'm seeing three priorities at the moment, listed in priority as food, defense, and trade.

Food: We've used up our year of food so we're going to have to keep pursuing food each year with several actions until we have a stable incoming supply of it as well as a solid stockpile. We've made solid progress clearing the fields so we'll be able to use this turn to push forward farming, but we'll need to do a fair amount of hunting until the farms are set up such that they can provide enough to last through lean times. We'll probably want to scout out that old village and see if there are any resources that we can scavenge from it.

Defense: Speaking of, while the village is a nice temptation, we'll probably want to settle into this coastal area so that we can better secure our ships. Once things are further up and running we could secure the village and see about expanding from there. The fences are a nice start, but with all these trees we should be able to set up some solid walls once our logging industry gets set up. I'd like to improve our military but we're going to need mire funds before we get into that.

Trade: For trading with Iceland, lumber is going to be our primary export, probably followed by honey/mead. We have 210 Hacksilver, plus whatever we get from tax income, which will hopefully be enough to get Logging started up if our other priorities don't require an amount of funds to ensure our survival. While we're setting that up, we can also do some research on bees. Once we have some solid income incoming, we'll be able to get some miners over here and begin our way into iron.

Marriage: So while we may pursue someone, it will probably take some time for any courtship to be successful, especially considering our crap diplomacy. For Odd, we have about two things in common, that being Learning and Stewardship. It might take some time to woo her is all I'm saying.

Definitely agree with not heading for the village, overextending our habitation sounds like a recipe for getting blindsided by threats in this new land.

How are we going to send back word to Iceland about this new source of lumber?  Or ships to transport lumber?

Quote from: Diplomacy
Tell Iceland How good it is here Clearly it is awesome here and you totally should tell people in Iceland how the land here is far better surely more people will come.
Cost: One Ship with Crew, 1 Year  Reward: ?????

Hopefully we'll get a more persuasive option with our new diplomatic advisor and perhaps with Odd as well depending on how lucky we get. I'd like to be able to tell them that we have lumber here prepped to sell whenever they get their butts over here before informing them about what's going on, so we have more time to develop our infrastructure before new people show up. That way we can really say that the land here is far better. Though I'm concerned about diseases now and hope we're able to recruit some medical people before that gets too bad.

We have two ships we could use to haul goods back to Iceland, though the journey seems long.

1.000 AD - Rumor Mill

Marriage

You have made your choice...Odd might be not the traditional choice but then again what do you care about traditions? How you woo her is going to be another thing entirely.

Meanwhile you approached Asa to help you deal with Diplomacy, she was more than willing and will prepare some options till next year.

Iceland

It has happened. The Althing, buckling under pressure from Olaf Trygvasson officially converted the entire country to the White Christ. Eating of Horseflesh, the Exposure of Children and private worship of the Old Gods however is still allowed.

People all over Iceland are outraged but understand the decision Olaf is a danger to them all

Norway Early Year

The Struggle between Trygvasson and the Jarls of Lade is continuing apace. Rumours of a unified Swedish-Danish Coalition against the Christian King are gathering strength as the ships of the Danish king have crossed the Balticum and landed on Swedish Soil.

England

The English Lords have finally decided to crown a single king: Aethelred.

Continental Europe

Hungary has converted to the Christian Faith

In the papacy the Pornocracy is continuing, also known as the rule of harlots, the Seat of the Papal See is more aking to a whorehouse than the seat of a major world religion.

The Byzantine Empire with the Deafeat of the First Bulgarian Empire has begun the christianization of the Kievan Rus.

Norway, Late Year

On September the Ninth King Olaf Tryggvason has been slain at the Battle of Svolder when the Combined forces of Sweyn I. and the Swedish drove the Norwegian king into the sea. However there are rumours that he has survived!

(These will be the last 100% Historically Accurate Events, after this things might diverge greatly, depending mostly on you)
