Masterwork - or was it fortress defence? - creates new civilizations of sentient elephants, iirc, which are not the same as giant animal populations in region.
Your internal wince is nothing compared to their external screams of anguish.
But I don't care about their external screams of anguish.

@IronTomato: Ya, it's just what counts as "deliberately fucking up fortress" can ...vary. The above example was intentional press case of

'Accident or malice? The vastly more intelligent extradimensional mind-controllers with alien and cruel morality deliberate over the trial'

Today, it is a day of tragedy, a pyrrhic victory. We know not what made Urist decide to cut down the last rock wall holding up a 100z tall column of rock, but he did not live to see the success of his project. Today, Bomrek looks over the magma forges he demanded with a hollow feeling, for the friend that brought him coal has given the rest of his life so he could smith once again. With the death in the workplace, it seems like a prime opportunity to reap fame for OSHA inspectors, yet the contacted ones have refused to do a tour in the capital of our civilization.

We dare not to suggest that there is a case of corruption surrounding our new king, after the last one tragically fell in solitary battle against Forgotten Beast few months ago. Yet, with rising deaths is mountainhomes really safe place to life? The mountain halls of deep dwarves do manage to live better, but is the cause the clear underground air...

You put down the non-existing paper sheet and frown.

"While the work of my predecessors is beautiful, this article merits attention. To honour Urist's sacrifice, the grand new library will be located right beneath the magma forges with ceiling heating. "

Also wanna a turn.

I vote for a embark without iron but with fluxstone.

Also, can we consider not using farms, it is not really necessary and adds a bit more of difficult for the game.

Also should we define a pop cap?

I found one nice site so far, half evil. testing what the effect is.

edit: Badlands/evil mountains. Aquifer, but patches of microcline pierce it. The vile sludge doesnt seem to do anyrhing, at least fo shorter periods. the mountains snow! there is a brook. image http://imgur.com/a/Fsx3n

It's perfect!

Pop cap shouldn't affect my turn too much, but 200 is what I usually use too.

Fine by me, and I have to agree on the farming point. I can never keep a fort going for very long without a farm.

Looking at it now, there is one potential major problem with the embark Gwolfski posted: The idea of getting iron from goblins and caravans only falls flat on it's face when closest goblin settlements are all dark pits. They have population of like 90-130 goblins.

Though it is pretty cool embark.

Just browsing and reading.  43.03 has dfhack, it's 43.04 and 43.05 that do not being x64.

I just can't play vanilla without the mod that puts the last material block on top of the list when constructing (walls, floors)
