Seriously.  One in every three engravings I see is a giant E;
"The giant eagle is striking down the human."
God, was it really this important?  I took all my clothes off and went running around in the mountains to kill off my longest-running adventurer, do my dwarves really need to blab about it so much?

It's just to remind all the dwarves that they are indeed the master race and that humans are inferior.

Also the dangers of those damned giant eagles.

Or, if you want to think about it another way... the guy was probably a living legend with great deeds sung throughout the land.  And how does he die?  He goes crazy, strips naked, and challenges one of the deadliest opponents without fear.  Sounds like a tale worth retelling.

I imagine the death of a world-renowned adventurer echoes through all aligned civilizations. Curious enough, you ought to try making a goblin fortress and see if they also make engravings of your adventurer's death. Might be interesting.

I've seen goblin clothes decorated with pictures of artifacts my fort has made before, so they probably will.

Mines are obsessed with my last adventurer's killing a dragon. 3/4 of my engravings represents a dragon making a plaintive gesture and a dwarf either laughing or striking a menacing pose.

I almost wondered if it wasn't my fortress symbol.
In which case it would be unbelievably cool.
