All the fighters were being taken, but off to the sides, there were a dozen window-washing ships. People were climbing in them too, so you hurry. They were taking off. You were halfway there and already half of them were blasting away, you continued floating, and you land on the last one available. But there was already a Russian soldier in it. You reach down to toss him out, but he says, "It's you! You survived!" You take a closer look and see that it is Sam, the cook. You tell him, "I know how to fly this, we can both fit." He scoots as far to the side as he could, and you squeeze next to him. You engage the throttle and accelerate towards the mouth of the main hangar, on the bottom of the Borislav. You steer the ship out of the hangar, along with thousands of other panicked ships. You chance a look behind you and you almost have a heart attack. The moon was so huge, and you were zooming right into it. There was no way you could stop in time, so you go sideways, hoping to miss the moon. The Borislav continued plummeting towards the moon, it's armored bow, (used for ramming space stations) struck first, and drilled straight through the moon, but the rest of the ship could not withstand the stress, the hull buckled, and the rear of the ship smashed into the front. There were 5 distinct explosions as the reactors all failed catastrophically, and to top it all off, the entire twisted hull was engulfed in a volcanic eruption as the collision and the thermonuclear explosions melted the moon's interior and the highly pressurized liquid rock was jettisoned away from the moon and surrounded the remains of the Borislav.
You turn your eyes away from the spectacle and focus on making sure you don't share a similar fate. Not only was there the moon to dodge, but also millions of small chunks of rock jetting away from the impact in all directions. You have increased your horizontal velocity significantly, but your senses tell you that you will still graze the moon's surface. You see a thin crater on the moon's surface in your path and you twitch the control stick so that you head for it. However, the small rocks are your next concern. They come at a ridiculous speed, and you cannot see them, nor do you have time to adjust your trajectory. You brace as hundreds of them strike your ship, creating holes in the canopy and hull. A small explosion tells you that your reactor blew up, but the engines continued to burn. However, all other systems failed. You have to rely on a more intricate method to steer. You tell Sam through the radio to lean left and right to steer the window-washing ship along the correct trajectory. Hunching over to steer down, and holding your arms up to steer up. You get closer and closer to the moons surface, you are meters from the ground when the ground dips down into the canyon. You frantically steer left and right to avoid the walls all while staying no more than a few meters from the ground which was whizzing by at over forty-five thousand meters per second. Right as the canyon starts to rise up again, your constant acceleration overcomes your downward velocity and you begin ascending, still at the same rate as the canyon rises. Up ahead, you see a mountain right at the mouth of the canyon, there is no way for you to get to the side at these speeds. You continue aiming the ship straight up as you exit the canyon, the mountain looms ahead, growing bigger as you get closer. It was going to be close. One second before impact, you shout, "brace yourself" as the peak of the mountain zooms underneath, then the ship starte to spin extremely fast. The tip of the mountain just barely grazed the engine bells of your ship, ripping the whole bottom half of your ship clean off, and sending the top half into a wickedly fast spin. You and Sam black out.
When you wake up, you are in a medical room with gravity. You open your eyes, and see the blurry outline of people hanging over your bed. One of them speaks, "Shut the hell up, I think our hero is waking up." It sounded like Sargent Braden. Your eyes clear up and you see all the people you fought with around you, Sam, Mitchel, The three surviving soldiers from the battle with the Sinop, and a few janitors and mechanics from the station. Sargent Braden talks again, "You showed those bastards. After you crashed the Borislav into the moon (goddamn that was beautiful) everybody else surrendered. Our ships picked up survivors, and the Earth Union imprisoned all Russian Government officials associated with this attack. You were picked up by Mitchel here. We are still at war with the Russian Federation, but their military has been crippled, and the Earth Union's Fleet has been fully activated, so they can't attack earth again. It is only a matter of time until they are defeated. The USSS Lexington is being recommissioned after its commemoration, and by a near Unanimous crew decision, you have been chosen to be the Vice Admiral, if you choose to accept. Otherwise, you could continue being the Head Janitor. It is your choice.
The End
Sweet. That was fun. Hope you guys enjoyed it too.
