When creating your character, a low recuperation allows you to appear 'fat', 'lardy', 'bedecked with rolls of lard' and such; a high recuperation allows the generator to pick 'skinny' and etc. From my findings:

A character with MIN recuperation (and all other stats MIN)...
> gains +18 hunger, thirst and sleepiness per speed 1.0 step
Therefore someone like that will have to eat, drink and sleep very often, and it's easy to imagine someone like this as fat.

A character with MAX recuperation (and all other stats MIN)...
> gains +9 hunger, thirst and sleepiness per speed 1.0 step
They don't often feel hungry! No wonder they're so skinny! :D


This is the script I used, I called the script on step to discover these numbers. Numbers may vary per species. Enjoy! (Owo)-b

Woe to my haste

...Well, at least I got a consolation prize out of my script...

Created 2 minimum stat human outsiders, 1 of whom had average endurance instead;
upon entry to the world, immediately threw the dagger on the spot;

min endurance guy got +32 exhaustion, +10 thirst, hunger and sleepy,
avg endurance guy got +11 exhaustion, +10 thirst, hunger and sleepy

The aesthetic changes alone are still worth it, for roleplaying purposes.  I can finally make my Wilson Fisk character.

Low recuperation makes you fat as fuck, probably. Can't really test since I'm in a fortress at the moment.

Hmm I made a guy in adventure mode with low recuperation to test and I got a guy who Is medium sized with greasy hair

Probably a fluke, I genned a new world and rolled up a few adventurers who seemed to all be fatter/skinnier based on their recuperation, maxing the stat resulted in characters with no fat on them and minimizing it resulted in characters that were nothing but. Pretty cool find, all things considered. I wonder how much of an effect fat has on adventurers, might be worth screwing around with.

Modify the material properties of fat to act as more effective armor (aka Kevlard).  Now you get defense bonuses for having low recuperation.
